On a return trip from Aberdeen the weather was so beautiful we had a detour to the coast. We found this gem of a cafe thanks to Trip Advisor . Located overlooking the harbour it looks welcoming and modern . The staff were very welcoming and gave us time to look at the menu and extensive specials board. I chose a bacon Brie and onion marmalade panini, which had lots of cheese! My wife had the quiche from the specials board , which came with salad and chips . Both meals were well presented and good size portions . The choice of cakes was too tempting so we opted for take away white chocolate sponge cake and a rhubarb and custard cake. Which we enjoyed later at home . The cafe was busy and staff kept us informed when our food would be ready they were all very friendly and asked where people were from , showing an interest in their customers. We certainly would return here again breakfast , coffee , lunch certainly for the cakes !!Thank you very much for taking the time to write such s lovely review. We are delighted you enjoyed your visit and look forward to seeing you on your next trip to the coast.

Tea Room, Pottery, Antique Shop

7 of us had reserved a table for a "wedding food trial". We were lucky with the sunny Saturday afternoon weather, which added to the overall ambience of the day's visit. Greeted by the lovely Flo, we were shown to our table. We find the surroundings so relaxing, quaint and special. The place was busy and respectfully quiet with 1940's music quietly playing in the background. Our food / tea was lovely (you'd never guess it was a vegetarian tearoom). The service is the best. A splendid visit. Our wedding food will be coming from The Willows Tearoom. After, we walked to the wee pond on the grounds and sat to observe the ducks and Moor Hen. In the distance we could see and could hear hundreds of Canadian Geese in a nearby field. Then a visit to the antique shop (next door to the tearoom) was a must. Still sunny as we drove off slowly from this special tearoom. Thanks Flo and staff. We'll be back.

We were visiting the area and Linda's was recommended!!!Wish it hadn't been.......the worst fish & chips we have EVER has and not particularly cheap!Staff took the p!$$ out of my husband as a Londoner he struggled slightly with their strong dialect. Will never buy from there again nor recommend! Good job the local council empties the bin regularly as they must overflow with rank fish & chips.

Visited this establishment again and confirmed it is still the best place for a breakfast (see photos). All that (9 items), a milk and 2 pieces of toast for under £8. Keeps me going all day. Our friends said that their Cullen Skink was the best ever too. The owner/chef is The World Champion in this field.

Visited for early afternoon coffee/cake. Had to wait ages for anyone to come out of the kitchen to seat us, then again to take our order (not difficult: 1 coffee, 1 tea, 2 desserts), and again to be able pay and leave. It’s only a small space ( seats about 20) and there were 2 staff on duty for front of house: what on earth were they doing in the kitchen since all of our order was eventually prepared front of house? The coffee was bitter, the tea ok, but both desserts were dull (key lime pie was set solid by way too much gelatin, crumble redolent of school dinners). Being a converted church, we expected a light, airy space, but the space is small and cramped, with only one highly-sited window (so no view). The floor is slate and there are no soft furnishings so the sound from chairs scraping on the floor, the clink of plates/cutlery, the chat of other diners, and the coffee machine are all magnified to make it unpleasantly noisy (we gave up trying to chat to each other as it was so noisy). All in all a very poor experience for a price about 33% higher than better experiences nearby...Sincerest Apologies for your waiting time to be seated and served.Mid afternoon’s are very busy as we are still serving lunches. The staff are in and out of the kitchen to pick up food orders and we also have a coffee machine in there too.Coffee bitter and tea ok. This could have been changed on request for a possible loose leaf tea of which there is a wide selection .Our coffee is 100% Arabica, unfortunately not to your taste.Again desserts could have been changed if not to your liking, but it was pointed out that no beverages or desserts were left at the table as staff are told to inform management immediately in this instance, so they must have been consumed. Nothing can be done regarding windows as it’s a listed building. Also we can’t do anything regarding people chatting. Yes the coffee machine does make a noise but that’s what they do. We are in talks with companies regarding soundproofing materials for the ceiling. Regarding cramped space, we have some regular wheelchair visitors who come as they can get around the tables with ease.33% more expensive is incorrect as our dessert prices are very competitive with other local establishments and our seafood comes directly from the boats so we can keep the prices down. Our 1/2 Lobsters are £17-99 and 8oz Sirloin steaks are priced at under £20.

Rockpool Cafe

This tiny cafe is in the surprisingly picturesque town of Cullen on the Moray coast. It boasts a small but excellent lunch menu. We had the delicious Cullen Skink, Pan Fried Haddock (very good - it would do credit to any restaurant anywhere) and the Fish and Chips. We also had he Bramble and Apple Crumble (tasting of fruit, not sugar) with vanilla icecream and the sicky toffee pudding with what I swear is the best salted caramel ice cream I've ever had.

Portsoy Coffee Shop

Reviewed By maggie k

Visited this small coffee shop for light lunch. I had Cullen skink and bacon sandwich, both fresh and delicious. Hubby had coffee and cheese scone, and a take away brie and chutney sandwich, all fresh and enjoyable. So, good food, friendly service, in a lovely clean setting. We visited this coffee shop when we were in the area this time last year, everything today was equally as good as then.
