This was my first overnight climb. You will need strong legs. Wear light clothes; t-shirt (dry fit), leggings or pants (dry fit), small towel for your sweat, sleeves for your arms protection and I suggest to wear sandals for hiking because I wore rubber shoes and its super hassle. For extra clothes, just bring a pair of clothes (again light clothes) take note there's no bathroom there. Don’t forget to bring trail water and trail foods.
The main jump off point to Mt. Tarak is at Barangay Alas-asin. Make sure you register in Baragngay hall. The first part of trail was light and easy and it takes 30 minutes to reach Nanay Cording’s house. From there prepare yourself for 3 hours trail going to Papaya river. Don’t worry that 3 hours include stop over. When I heard the flow of the river I was mesmerized, it is clean and clear. By there we prepared our lunch, refilled our bottled water and took a rest.
By 2pm, we started our assault to ridge and it takes 2 hours. The trail became steeper, veiny and very much nakakahingal. It’s all worth it when you reach the ridge and the view is exquisite as if you see the whole world (HAHA kidding). This was unforgettable experience to me because I was with my ex lover and I still love him. (HAHAHAHA) Anyway, there are two campsite options; Tarak ridge and Papaya River. We decided in Tarak ridge, to experience the sunset and sunrise and easy for us to arrive at the summit. Just make sure to bring enough water because the only source of water is at Papaya River. For final assault (ridge to summit) you’ll take 30 minutes. Say hi to EMO TREE. Enjoy the breath taking view of Mt. Tarak.

A fitting memorial to the men who gave so much in the defense of the Philippines against Japanese aggression in WWII. Filipino and American service members and civilians are honored here, and in fitting tribute.
Only 30 php entrance fee, which is cheap, and the park is clean and well maintained. It's about 8km to hike the entire park, or can be bicycled.
The Cross is immense and can be seen for miles as you approach the park. I visited in Spetember 2017 and the elevator to the top was being replaced so I could not go up, but I bet the view is stunning for those that can.

It's a public beach in Mariveles so the beach istelf is free (no entrance fee)! There are different cottages made by the residents live near the beach that cost to P300-P500 depending on the structure of the cottages made from bamboo and nipa hut. But we decided to sit on the rocks. Nice place for family while watching the beautiful sunset!

This World War II monument and park is a must visit if you're in town. You can park nearby at Jollibee. There are no entrance fees.
The park is not much and could stand some improvement but it's historic value is quite important. It is by this seaside location where thousands of US and Filipino troops were herded on April 9-13, 1945. These heroes defended Bataan for over 3 months while other Southeast Asian countries were surrendering to the invading Japanese Imperial Army. The Japanese were so infuriated with them that they had them march 102 kms all the way to San Fernando despite evidence that there were trucks in Mariveles at that time. This is today known as the Bataan Death March.
Recently, the local historical commission added a marker there.

From these Beaches in the '' Mariveles '' , I had a local guide virtually be a detective to find a way over from Bataan to Corregidor . We obviously were not Robinson Crusoe in attemping this .- As once we made enqiries with local fishermen at what I think was Mattel beach . A lady addressing herself as the boats owner soon appeared and gave us the pre printed quote with contact details . This we took up . The fishing boat as in the attached photo .
The day was a success for us in less than ideal conditions with the effects of the super typhoon passing north of the Philippines as it was bearing down on Taiwan . So we were limited to 2hrs on the island being subject to being more vulnerable to the conditions in our smaller open transport . If you have any wisdom, you take heed of advice from the fisherman guides . They know what their boats are capable of for the conditions . They would not jepeodise their livelihoods on silly risks .
So the 3500 peso could have covered a group of up to eight people from when you arrive . But these fishermen guides would prefer you to return by 3pm on an ideal day .
Then there are the extra charges on the island as per photo .
Only attempt this if you have at least reasonable strength , endurance durability and no illnesses and injuries which could be effected by the jolting of the boat in adverse conditions as we experienced . Plus it could be easily crowded. And to hold on safely , I had to hold on with reasonable grip for the 30 minute bumpy , cramped voyage . I was pleased my girlfriend held on with out difficulty . But she is a fit country girl . We were issued life vests for good reason , health and safety . This is certainly not a luxury cruise and does not intend to be . You will only get so called more comfortable cruises from Manila .
Well we saw Corregidor for a lesser price than cruises from Manila and the closer your group is to 8 , the more money you save . The risks are there . But such is for doing anything worthwhile in life .
For me though uncomfortable . This was an authentic experience and very fulfilling .

The seashore and beach were dirty when I visited the place and I think that will be the last that I will go there to swim. Not recommended, you can't enjoy swimming while plastic and other dirt are coming out from nowhere. We just stayed there for 1 hour. They must clean and maintain it because it's a small beach.
