Great trip would recommend wearing boots as trails muddy and slippery, also have to cross a stream to get to the lighthouse. Guides more than knowledgeable on the history

West Coast Aqua Park

Reviewed By Kiki-Kola - Dublin, Ireland

I went to the West Coast Aqua Park at the end of July 2020 with three of my family … my two two brothers and my Mum (who needed to come along as an adult was needed to be in the water if we were under 10 years old). The water temperature was warmer than expected but that might have depended on whether you were using your own wetsuit (which I was) or using one of the wetsuits provided. My Mum and oldest brother used the wetsuits provided and they weren’t in great condition. The ankles and wrists were loose so they let in water … which meant it didn’t keep you that warm as fresh cold water got in each time you jumped in the water. My brother’s wetsuit was ripped so you could see his swimming shorts. The park is in an estuary so the water isn’t that salty …. though maybe that depends on the tide. I’m not sure how many people were there but my Mum said the slot was full … I reckon there was about 40 people in total. Either way it was well supervised and big enough so that we didn’t have to wait to use any of the slides during the session. You got changed in a building about 200m from the slides. Note … you might want to bring flip-flops for the walk as it’s a tarmac path with some small stones and my Mum’s shoes were all wet when she went for dinner later than evening as she wore them back when got out of the water. There were lots of different slides and obstacles courses … my favourite was a swing that you jumped off of into the water ????. I had a buoyancy aid which meant I floated the whole time. My head never went under the water … although my brothers did … and I never felt nervous. It was one of the best things we did together on holiday! I really recommend it to everyone.

This is a fabulously maturing garden with lovely tea rooms and seats outdoors near games for kids like hopscotch and tic tak toe. The garden centre is well stocked with good specimens. The mazes are excellent but the plants and planting schemes are the true stars!
