Teshima Art Museum

Photographs don't do justice to the power of this place. Profoundly spiritual experience. The breathtaking architecture and the subtle, mesmerising art installation form such a perfect whole. We stayed for almost 90 minutes in near silence, just sitting on the floor, watching the droplets of water first form and then launch on their serendipitous journeys, watching the breeze play with a white ribbon, observing others observing the water drops, walking around the curving, circular structure and feeling very moved by it all.

We enjoyed walking around the Olive Garden and taking pictures with the background of the windmill. Free rent of broom in the center.

Kankakei Gorge

Reviewed By 22GraceB - Sydney, Australia

We walked up from the ropeway as it hadn’t started raining yet and we wanted to experience the forest which is natural. Although past the prime the autumn leaves were lovely. The forest was lovely and quiet and despite all the signs we were not disturbed by inoshishi leaping out of the bush at us. When we reached the top the clouds came in, the rain started and the temperature plummeted. We decided to take the cable car down the mountain which was a great idea as it took us through the gap which was not accessible by the path. The view was amazing and the trees looked gorgeous. We were treated to a lone trumpeter at the top playing beautifully through the mist. Thanks to whoever that was.

Rented a car from Orix Car Rental which is a short walk from Tonosho Port (came from Okayama New Port) Arrived at the ropeway at 11am. Managed to get on to the ropeway before a tour group did so it took us less than 10 mins in line. Autumn colours were in their peak and it was gorgeous the entire way up to the summit station. There were several viewing spots and souvenir shops on the summit. Spent about 45 mins up there before taking the doorway down again. There was a long line when we disembarked and it looked like a hour wait at least. So go early and hopefully there's no tour group in line with you!
