Tre Cime di Lavaredo

Reviewed By JMGeneva - Geneva, Switzerland

Emblematic of the Dolomites and absolutely spectacular. The tour around the Tre Cime took us about 4hours of easy hike (although fully in the snow, and quite slippery) from and to the parking lot. Should be more like 3 hrs in summer. Incredible photo opportunities along the way. Yes parking access is expensive but so is maintaining infrastructures at this altitude. Must do.

Cadini di Misurina

Reviewed By M2018K - Pilsen, Czech Republic

We did the hike around Cadini group in July 2020. From Lago di Misurina (camping Alla Baita) we walked (1,5km / 20min) around the lake to the lower station of Seggovia Col de Varda (8,-EUR / one way / person). After short ride we got up to Rif. Col de Varda. There was a nice view from this place but the best views came later. First part of a hike was very easy – short descent, than almost horizontal comfortable road and short climb before getting to Rif. Citta di Carpi. We took a short break for snack and beer in the pub before we started to climb the path. This part wasn´t very demanding, only a few parts were steep. We climbed to the point where our path joined Sentiero Durissini, there we had to pass a small bridge and then the difficult part started. We were crossing snowy parts, steep and sliding descents and ascents. We couldn´t see the path covered by snow and ice sometimes, which made especially descents difficult but carefully continued down and up again. The last part - traversal climb up to Rif. Fonda Savio was secured by the ropes/cables so that it was easy to pass. From this place we could see Tre Cime. We took another short break with a beer and then a long descent back to Lago Misurina. We enjoyed beautiful views and the whole trip was very nice experience! It took us 6 hours and 45 minutes (from Rif. Col de Varda to Rif. Fonda Lago Misurina).

Lago di Misurina

Reviewed By Restless_Wanderer_49

Lago di Misurina is absolutely my favorite lake in the Dolomites. It is particularly stunning early in the morning when the light brings out the craggy contours of the Sorapis south of the lake, and the water is likely to be mirror smooth making for an unforgettable reflection. Misurina has a connection to the 1956 Winter Olympics which where based in nearby Cortina. Long before the days where a purpose specific venue was built for just about every event, many of the events were held wherever an appropriate environment could be found. Misurina was the venue for the Men's Speed Skating event. Temporary wooden bleachers to accommodate up to 8000 spectators were built on the North end of the lake near the Grand Hotel Misurina. The various events were held from 28 January thru 31 January. After the Olympics were over, the stands were taken down and the lake slipped back into relative obscurity. Pictures of the event that can be found online show that it is just about unchanged from then.
