First of all hey insisted we had to be here at 12:30. Not he 13:00 we requested Why?THey did not start serving food until after 13:00Serving staff were condescending and rudeThe roast version was excellent thoApart from the Yorkshire pudding was pretty burnt. Asking for another one we were told that’s how they rise and are supposed to be cooked..... just plain rude the desert is upto scratch. Overall 3 stars whereas expected to give 5Thank you for your review, we are terribly sorry you were disappointed with your time here at The Boathouse. We asked you to arrive at 12.30 and not 1pm as you requested as we already had a large party sailing in, and arriving at 1pm, along with other bookings at 1pm and a further large party of 7 booked in at 1.30pm, unfortunately the large party due in at 1pm called to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances just before service, hence why the restaurant didn’t seem as busy as you thought it would be. We are sorry you felt you were waiting a long time for your main course to be served, but we carve our meat, honey roast the vegetables, and cook the pasta to order to avoid any food drying out.All we can ask is that you come back and try our A’la Carte menu which is served Wednesday to Saturday 6pm-8pm. Please book well in advance to avoid any further disappointment on arrival times.

Driftwood Brasserie

The site is magic, with fabulous view on the Loch...First deception : you enter in the dinner room. It's small and with too many tables. There is only a small window with view on the Loch, the other tables are near the wall.Service very attentive, smiling and profesional, as you can wait in a restaurant of this category. A starter was clearly outstanding : Crab cake with wasabi and apple sorbet, and an other very good: mussels with creamy sauce. And the mains arrived. So disappointing...The haddock main and a cod main were not really different from those you could eat in every good bistrot or small restaurant on the road, except for the decoration. It was drab and flavourless. We didn't take any dessert after such a defeat.A good selected whisky at the end (slightly overpriced) couldn't compensate this big disappointment. We do recall your table because of the odd request you made on receiving your main courses. You ordered Fish and Chips, a traditional British dish which is extremely popular and loved in the U.K. and universally recognised throughout the world - we thought? However, when you received your main courses, you did not approve. You asked for your fish and chips to be removed and be replaced with fish steamed in milk and you didn't want chips but boiled potatoes? Not really our idea of a quality Brasserie meal either and rather a strange request but, we Immediately provided you with new main courses cooked In exactly the way you had requested. Perhaps it was a language problem because you spoke very little English so I can only apologise if we did not understand you fully; or that you appeared not to understand our menu. It was, we felt, on a par with us coming to Spain, and requesting Paella but without the rice. As for accusing us of deception, well I think we should try not to take offence in recognition of your difficulty with English language. We are very sorry that you were disappointed. With kind regardsSally Fox

One of few places in Strontian to serve dinners more or less year round so booking at busy times is essential. We ate here twice, whilst staying in the Hotel, and found the experience very good. The menu was quite comprehensive and supplemented by specials on the board. There is a good supply of both wine and beers to help wash the meal down.Service was extremely friendly and efficient and prices very reasonable. We shall be back.

We dropped in for a spot of cake after a walk and it was so nice we decided to book a table for the following night. We all enjoyed the food and particularly enjoyed our fresh mains. The only criticism is the pudding was a let down especially as the cake we had the previous day was so nice.
