Located in moutainous area north of downtown Kyoto, Arashiyama Takao Parkway is a 10 km scenic drive toll road connecting Arashiyama and Takao in northern Kyoto with great view of Hozukyo Gorge and Mt. Atago. About 45 minutes drive from JR Kyoto station. Toll is set at 1180 yen for ordinary vehicle. Convenient parking lot available for visitors to Jingoji Temple. Good location to respite from the crowd of Arashiyama and enjoy the fall leaves in bucolic mountain surrounding. Among attractions on the parkway, stunning view of Hozukyo Gorge merging Kiyotaki River from Hozukyo lookout is something that should not be missed. This road is accessible only by car, cyclists and pedestrians are not allowed. Toll is payable in cash only at the toll gate at either end of the road. Open all year round. Business hours may vary depending on season. Food and drinks are available around Jingoji Temple in Takao and also available in some of the parking lots along the road, as well as WC.
