A surprise treat
Reviewed By JamesM4892We loved it. My young family had a train to Guangzhou cancelled and we stayed unexpectedly at the last minute. Jason in reception welcomed us warmly. We settled into our room and we're. Very pleased with the surroundings. Next day, the typhoon determined that we needed to stay for an extra couple of days, so we enquired about an upgrade to our room. Lida could not do enough for us. She was fantastic. What followed was two more days of relaxation, swimming, great food, use of the gym, and service that was always dedicated and top level. This stay was nothing but a pleasure.

Reviewed By 江淮 王Not only it had been an age-old reort since 2005,but also it has a poor maintenance and service. 1.Front desk staff is not good at operating POS machine,even if did not catch on how to Apple Pay besides Wechat and Alipay. Even more egregious she did not show a worrying face when I said I would take it. 2.The shower in the room was rusty and no hot water running,noone dealed with it after I called the "0" until I call Marriott Customer Service Center. After a engnieer checked the shower water,it still no hot water running, Maybe the hotel managemenet think a cold shower is available at summer day due to hotel cost control. 3.No club lounge at this Sheraton hotel.Hotel explained they are a resort not a execusive hotel,but why Marriot resort has a Club lounge next to this Sheraton? Also they do not grant a free breakfast for platium and titanium member. 4.The next morning when I was eager to check out going to the airport ,they invatied me to enjoy the breakfast as a compensate .If they think I conld enjoy their breakfast so as to delay a flight? In shorly, as a Marriot member I more recommend nearby Marriot hotel rather than .this Sheraton.

Creepy and Disappointing
Reviewed By John SThis hotel gives the shivers in the spine that a horror movie provides. It’s not only creepy but many of the people staying here felt a little bizarre too. I was quick to check out the following morning. Definitely don’t recommend for the state of the hotel and distance into town.

Beautful Setting, But Accomodations Fell Short
Reviewed By dtracy617On the Plus Side - the landscaping is attractive and well manicured. The lobby area is also attractive. The layout of the grounds is well thought out. Good beach access. The pool and hot springs are very nice. On the Minus Side - Our rooms (We had three during our week-long stay) all had peeling wallpaper and mold. Maid service did not meet standards. For example, we ran out of tissues the first day and were not replaced for 2 days. Our first room smelled like a cigar bar. One day the maid did not make the beds. One shower had no hot water. Internet service is slow to non-existent. The buffet food was tepid and repetitious, both day after day, and meal after meal. Neutral - The beds were hard as rocks, but that may be the Chinese standard. Still, I found them quite uncomfortable. Little English is spoken here, though the staff can generally find someone who knows a little English. Some use Google Translate to communicate. You would do well to download the app before arriving, because the sorry internet will not help you there. There is little to do near the hotel. It's quite a trip to many other parts of the city.

Quaint quiet
Reviewed By Michael CI stayed here for two night in 2015. I did get a taxi from Wenchang railway station to the resort. But be aware some taxi drivers do not seem to know where it is . Getting back to Wenchang station was kind of easy because the local bus terminates at the road leading to the resort. But the bus dumps you in Wenchang township where you have to catch another bus to the station. The resort unfortunately has been built out by a large artificial island which makes the previous beach which was open to the ocean more of a channel. The resort it self is a little run down needing maintenance of the grounds. It was difficult to get a meal in the restaurant but the food was good. The rooms are clean and some air conditioned. The price was ok but maybe a little expensive for China. The whole place at the time I was there had the feeling that it was out of season with few people around. To me this was ok as i like solitude.
