Bad room, broken window, old bed, shower didnt work
Reviewed By Ali SWe booked for two nights but due to a family problem could only stay one, thank god! We had been upgraded to a premier plus. The first sight was the warped old bed, there was no toilet paper, the curtains were coming off, the window wouldn't close and the only way we kept the room warmer that night was by ramming toilet paper (we got some eventually) in the gaps as the collapsed handle held it in position. There was dust all over the phone we had to use and to top it all, the shower did not work, giving just a small dribble of luke warm water. There was obviously not enough staff and we really wouldn't recommend this place in any way.

Excellent value and friendly staff
Reviewed By FoodthoughtzExcellently priced, clean, modest rooms with excellent service from staff. Very grateful that they made our breakfast for us a touch earlier to allow us to get out on our long bike ride a bit sooner. Will 100% be stopping again next time we want to do a long ride or swim in the lakes. If you're looking for a super fancy hotel then probably need to pay a bit more but at this price point this is absolutely fantastic ?

Reviewed By Stephen NAbsolute gem of a place, very spacious rooms, off road parking, lovely stroll into Keswick. We had room 4, gorgeous view of Derwentwater. Nothing is any trouble for host Clare & Craig, very filling breakfast, we even ordered a Butchers Platter on the Tuesday of our walk for 7pm, it was gorgeous, sat in the bar with a glass of wine. Would definitely recommend staying at this place, we will be going back. Love it.

Skiddaw Croft Bed & Breakfast is in the perfect location for a walkers holiday. Set in the stunning scenery of the Lake District National Park we are located in the lovely village of Portinscale, just outside Keswick. We have great views from the bedrooms of Derwentwater/Castlerigg Fell and Grisedale Pike. We have a guest lounge for residents to relax in after a day walking, cycling or site-seeing. Fabulous stay at Skiddaw Croft
Reviewed By Diane GWe had a wonderful time at Skiddaw Croft, definitely the best B&B we have ever stayed at. When we arrived Sue & Steve were there to meet us, what stood out from the beginning was how friendly and helpful they were, happy to chat and answer any question we had. We had room 3 on the 1st floor, which was gorgeous, very spacious, tastefully decorated and had a beautiful view over Derwent Water, they had even put easy chairs & a coffee table in the bay window so you could site and admire the view. Couldn't fault anything about our room. My Mother had room 5 on the top floor, a small double, which had an en-suite, again very well thought out & tastefully done. Breakfast was amazing, plenty of choices, you placed you order the night before, the cooked breakfast was delicious, the best we have ever had. There was free parking around the back, there was even a small touch in your room to use at night. We can highly recommend a stay at Skiddaw Croft, it's the place to stay if you are up in the north part of the Lake District.

Our guests just love The Mount - saying it is a 'home-from-home'. We hope to ensure that you have the best holiday here - one made of aga-cooked breakfasts in our beautiful dining room, tea and cake in the garden, sleeping well in the Egyptian cotton sheets, waking up to the beautiful views of the lake and mountains (and the smell of freshly made-bread!), good walks - in short, a relaxing and special time away from the hustle and bustle of usual life. The Mount is set in a very special place - one of the loveliest villages in the lakes. Portinscale village has it all - it is peaceful, right on the lake-shore, has wonderful cafes, an ideal place to start many great walks including Catbells, and two marines for canoeing, kayaking and sailing - and yet is only a short walk to Keswick - full of pubs, restaurants and shops! Many of our guests say what a special time they have here - in an area recognised for its beauty by new UNESCO World Heritage status.

The standard of accommodation was very high, very clean and up to date. I had a lovely view from my front bedroom on the first floor. Good hearty breakfast. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Thank you.
