Great value for money
Reviewed By S_A_Wills09Basic hotel that provides a great service, good value for money. We booked over the phone with no hassle. There is parking, a restaurant on site that does delicious cretan food, a very good breakfast included in the price and a free shuttle service to the entrance to Samaria Gorge park at half hourly interval from 7:30 to 8:30 (thus beating the coach-loads). Simple rooms indeed, a good sleep until people start moving in the morning- not a place for a lie in. We had a room on the street side and slept with the balcony doors partially opened for ventilation (our room didn't have windows) and to the sound of goats bells providing a soothing background through the night. But then I love rural living! They even accommodated our desire to have breakfast outside, a bit of extra hassle to them no doubt, since tables were already set inside. The second morning it was all set for us already, thank you! The packed lunch for the trek was great too! Although the breakfast provided enough sustenance to last until early afternoon :) Would definitely stay there again, as a base for more walks to do in the area and a great break from the heat of the valleys! No food shops that we could see, but the room had a small fridge so you can bring some supplies if you want. Nothing much to do in Omalos itself, very small place, rest, a few walks, reading and relaxing.

Reviewed By AndreaLehotskaWe had our first greek dinner right here and liked the simplicity of this place. Dishes are authentic, genuine, fresh and very tasteful. Girls from the staff are very welcoming and helpful for any information about the surroundings or Samaria trek. Also the local white wine was surprisingly great. Try the their local coffee too! ( extra large ?) Open until late and also rooms available. (Sorry for the pic of empty plates but we couldn’t wait to eat ?)

Reviewed By moomickeyWe stayed here for 1 night in preparation for the Samaria Gorge walk the next day. We arrived in the late afternoon and realised that Omalos itself is extremely quiet with not much going on (either you will love or hate this, but remember you are on top of a mountain) We did a small walk to the local caves, otherwise just enjoyed this mountain Crete experience far away from the beach and heat. The room itself was fine, dated of course, but we were only here for a sleep and an early rise in the morning. We ate dinner here which was good, big portion sizes and a decent menu offering. Eat lots so you have energy for the walk! In the morning we paid up and then had breakfast downstairs: again, not amazing but serves the need. You can pick up a map and essential walk items. If i were to rate this hotel in relation to the Samaria Gorge walk then it really does do the job. If i were to rate this as a hotel to relax in its own right then i dont think this is the right hotel for you, but you probably wouldnt be staying in Omalos. Excellent value for money! Book if you want a great start to the Samaria Gorge walk, the entrance is 5mins drive down the road where you can leave your car and pick it up much later in the day after the ferry and bus drop offs.

Reviewed By Alan RThis hotel is ideal to stay in before or after hiking the Samaria Gorge if you want some that is very reasonably priced. The rooms are clean spacious and simply equipped with beds, a t.v., ensuite bathroom and a cupboard. If you have hiked the Gorge, you will probably just want to eat and crash out.The hotel is extremely good value for that. We also like the restaurant. It served some local specialties as well as the usual Greek favourites. The service was quick and very friendly. I saw another review that was very negative and I was very surprised. All I can say that was not our experience at all, the staff were fantastic. I loved the place - nice food and excellent value.

Reviewed By AndreaLehotskaWe stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment and liked everything. Spacious, new, well equipped, clean. Quiet sleep assured! Fireplace, bathtub, parking. I definitely recommend as it’s worth its price. (Only 3km to the “center” of Omalos and 1.5 to the Samaria trekking Parking place.

Built in 2014 with respect in traditional architecture, under the wild beauty of mountain Omalos in Chania, "Omalos Village" provides to the visitor all the comforts in harmony with the surrounding landscape. Combining quiet and calm with various activities and excursions in the beautiful mountain scenery, and also the acquaintance with the traditional Cretan cuisine, just a few minutes walk away
So well equipped
Reviewed By ClareGaWe are a family of 5 and stayed here in order to hike the Samaria Gorge. We loved our chalet with two bedrooms and a spacious lounge with fireplace. The chalet was so well equipped you could stay there for a month - washing machine, fully equipped modern kitchen including a food processor. Everything looked brand new. The family runs a restaurant a short walk away and we ate a nice traditional dinner there. The restaurant opens early in the morning so you can buy coffee, sandwiches and other supplies to take on the hike. This place was the best value for money and would definitely come again for a relaxing stay.
