Great location in El Cuyo!!

Reviewed By Ron H

The location is excellent being in the center of everything and an easy walk to anything. The property is one of the few actual hotel type properties right on the beach. It has a great onsite restaurant and included a good breakfast with our stay. Our room could have used some TLC, paint touch up, deeper cleaning, furniture refinish or repaint, etc. There was no clock in the room and while we had our phones it is just convenient to look at a clock. There was also connections for a TV, but no TV. I know many do not go on vacation to watch TV, but sometimes on a rainy day it is nice. The internet was not good. You pretty much had to go to the restaurant to get signal and even then it was out quite often. For the money paid, it should have good internet, a TV, and a clock. If they are trying to be a minimalist eco friendly hotel, then the price should reflect it. We will for sure return to El Cuyo (we only live 2 1/2 hours away) but at this point I am not sure if we will stay here again unless we see the value in amenities vs price. The stay was good, but not great.

We stayed 5 days in Lunarena and we loved it. We were looking for tranquility, a peaceful place with beautiful beaches to be able to walk for km, a super little boutique hotel with excellent service, friendly staff and good food, we found it all here ! The room was perfect with a great view and spectacular sunrise and sunset views (yes booth !).

The hotel also offers free, safe parking and a wide variety of sightseeing tours.

off the beaten track

Driving from Cancun airport to El Cuyo at night was a bit scary.. complete dark, narrow roads and the vegetation hitting the car when you meet cars, made it scary. El Cuyo is peace and quiet, and dont expect a boosting night life. We got local help to fin the beach cottages, which were nice enough, simple but veery rustic and romantic. In the morning we went to he beach, shared with pelicans and absolutely nothing else. A place to stay for some time if you want to chill out and reflect.
