Flynqy Pilot Training

Flynqy Pilot Training operates from Newquay Cornwall Airport, in beautiful surroundings with the coastlines and landscapes of Cornwall and Devon as a backdrop for our flights. We offer Flight Experiences, Flight Training and much more! Flight Experience:The Trial Flight Experience (or Air Experience Flight) provides an amazing opportunity to take to the skies and see the world from a different perspective. Discover the stunning sights of Cornwall - from its unique coastlines, cliffs and beaches to its rural villages and towns. Depending on the duration of your flying experience, you can expect to see places such as Newquay, St Ive's, Boscastle, Falmouth, Truro, Bodmin, Padstow, St Austell and even the Eden Project! Experiences are available in a two seat (Cessna 152), three seat (Robin DR400) or four seat (Piper PA28) aircraft and can last for 20, 30, 40 or 50 minutes. This flight is also the starting point for the Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (LAPL) or Private Pilot Licence (PPL), and any time flown can be logged towards the course if the participant is 14 years old or over. This personal flying lesson starts with a full flight briefing from one of our highly qualified and experienced flight instructors before being taken to your aircraft. During the flight, you will be given the chance to take the controls and fly the plane, sitting in the captain's seat in the cockpit and under the supervision of your instructor, you will also assist with the take-off and landing of the plane - all whilst admiring Cornwall from this unusual vantage point.

Been a few times to grab some of their outstanding cider and cherry brandy but on the last visit the brewery have added an outstanding little eatery. The bagels and burgers were outstanding and the perfect accompaniment to the still stellar cider.

St Columb Major to St Mawgan

A circular walk along the Vale of Lanherne from the mediaeval market town of St Columb Major, where Cornish Hurling is still played, to the riverside pub and church at St Mawgan, returning through the broadleaf woodland of the Carnanton Estate along the River Menalhyl. 7.3 miles. Steepness: Easy-Moderate.

Thoroughly enjoyed this walk,we used the iwalkcornwall app.Very scenic, good mix of old town architecture ,old lanes, fields, the valley, long views from top of hills,St Mawgan is lovely ,conveniently half way round ,perfect for refreshments in the pub, shop or cafe, a Church if you like to look around these, then back along a solid woodland path with the river close by with a great display of bluebells and wild garlic, we saw a heron in flight very close by.and back into old country lanes. We clocked up 8 miles on our fitbit. One field was soggy in the middle, and we did have to walk on a road for a bit but it wasn't busy as such. We had dogs who managed stiles generally,a hand needed for one with the larger dog. Have a look at the old part of St Columb Major, some interesting buildings.

Tucked away in the little village of Mawgan, near Newquay airport, the Japanese Garden is a lovely little oasis of calm, tranquility and Zen. The garden is not huge so take your time, and savour the serenity and views from different spots. Within the grounds there are Zen temple gardens, koi ponds, bamboo groves, formal bonsai display area, and various seating to allow you to take a quiet moment to take in the beautiful fusion of stone, moss, maples, pines, tree support props, water falls, Buddha statues, gravel beds, deer scarer water features, koi, stone lanterns etc. The entrance fee is a very reasonable £5 for adults. There unfortunately is no refreshments facilities, but there are public toilets just next to/outside the entrance for those who may have driven some distance to get there. The gift shop had a fabulous selection of statuary and garden ornaments, bonsai, pots and oriental themed items. Staff were delightfully friendly and helpful, offering care advice on the Buddhist Pine tree that I bought. During these strange COVID times be sure to pre-book. In all a lovely visit to a little gem of a garden, which I would be delighted to revisit.
