Clonakilty (/ˈklɔːnæˌkɪltiː/; Irish: Cloich na Coillte, Clanna Chaoilte), sometimes shortened to Clon, is a town in County Cork, Ireland. The town is located at the head of the tidal Clonakilty Bay. The rural hinterland is used mainly for dairy farming. The town's population as of 2016 was 4,592. The town is a tourism hub in West Cork, and was recognised as the "Best Town in Europe" in 2017, and "Best Place of the Year" in 2017 by the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland. Clonakilty is in the Cork South–West (Dáil Éireann) constituency, which has five seats.

Clonakilty Distillery

Located in the coastal town of Clonakilty, on the Wild Atlantic Way, Clonakilty Distillery is a maritime distillery, owned and run by the Scully family. Went to the Gin School this was our second visit and it was excellent. Its a great evening and you end up with a bottle of gin at the end that you can actually day you distelled yourself. Staff are great and very informative and helpful. Followed with dinner in the Whails Tail onsite restaurant which was excellent and a good cocktail menu. A great night out from end to end.

To walk across the strand on the sand at low tide is magical with weather in October being so lovely It's a fabulous setting
