Had a good meal here. Really good and varied menu. The onion soup was fantastic. The service was efficient and the price was about right for what we received. We would go back here.

Kamadac

Reviewed By Aussie_Dayve - Wollongong, Australia

This is a copy of a review I posted on the main Mt Roraima page, but felt I should copy it here too:
I opted to go with the 8 day Roraima hike with Kamadac. I really couldn't be happier. I highly recommend them. Our guide (Fernando) honestly couldn't have been better. Fluet in English, Spanish and German, he's been up 220 times, but is just as eager, if not more than the tourists. I have heard many stories (in fact by everyone that I spoke to in Santa Elena) that said the mountain was great, but the tour sucked. These people went with other companies. I beleive in general many of guides just want to get up and down as fast as possible and without humour. Fernando however was really great company and truly seemed to enjoy himself on the hike. I spent most of the tour chatting to him, practising my spanish and german. The Porters were great too and really helped make the trip. They also had a lot of respect for the spirit of the mountain. It is a special place and really does have a spirit that must be respected. They made sure to travel with the least amout of impact possible, and also picked up rubbish that previous people had left. So yes, the personality of the staff honestly could not have been better.
What's more is that the food really was fantastic! I was expecting rice and beans every night, but I was very pleasantly surprised to see it was almost restaurant quality for every meal. Remember I did the 8 day hike, which necesitates bringing a lot of food. You would expect it would all just be dry food to save on weight, but no, they had fruit including watermelon, and even on the 5th day they still had mangoes. Typical day would be that you wake up to a decent cooked breakfast and start walking. The Porters would then pack up the tents and run forward, overtaking us and having food waiting for us at the lunch spot. Some days were even cooked pasta with tuna and vegetables and so on... for lunch!!!
The gear supplied was good too. Sleeping bags were very warm and the tents waterproof. Only problem was some of the zips were starting to break, but this really was the only issue with the whole trip, and was very minor.
I'm yet to be more impressed with a tour group than this one. Honestly second to none. I highly recommend them!
p.s. bring plenty of spare camera batteries. I burned through 3 batteries for the trip!

Intimo's

Reviewed By NKyAdventurer - Cincinnati Ohio

There are two signs on opposite sides of the entrance to the backpackers' hostel, leadiing to some confusion. It seems that the truth is that Goldrausch is the bar for Intimo's which is the restaurant. At any rate, the food is all cooked at Intimo's from what I could tell.
I ate here two nights and the food was much better the first night. The chef is an imaginative creative individual who can dress up a burger, fries, and salad with a few little tricks.
Probably the best thing about dinner both nights was the Caesar Salad which was quite delicious. The fish Sandwich one night and the chicken Sandwich the other were decent but as often happens in Venezuela the beef was unavailable. Ask before you get your expectations up. The big downside was the fact they only sell high-priced beers. While regular beer goes for 500-700 bolivars, the cheapest beer on the menu is 1600 bolivars. It's certainly better beer but for those on a budget, you either drink lightly or go elsewhere.

Comida excelente. Tivemos lasagna, panini e pasta artesanais, muito bem preparados e bem servidos! Preço justo. Os pratos podem servir até duas pessoas ou saciar a fome de uma pessoa, completamente. Atendimento cordial!
