We had one of our favorite tours ever with Ecoturismo la Pancha! It was a bit last minute, but we wanted a kayaking adventure in Patagonia while we were in Puerto Chacabuco and so happy we came across this one! It’s a family owned business that really cares about giving a unique experience. We had two children (ages 4 & 6 years old) and they set us up with double kayaks! The weather was typical Patagonia weather (rainy, sunny, cold, warm!) and the setting was absolutely gorgeous on the lake and river. Half way through, we went to the mangroves in the river to enjoy a snack and matte- what fun!! Then back to the grounds where we were greeted with a warm cozy fire and delicious array of fresh made Chilean snacks and hot chocolate. Even fresh salmon ceviche!! Yum!!! The family is so nice, the setting beautiful and experience is truly one of a kind!! Highly highly recommend!!!

Parque Nacional Queulat

The road to into the park is horrible and the park is crowded but the trek up to the glacial viewpoint is magical. Make sure you also do the short side trail along the rushing river to the lake. If you want solitude, there is another viewpoint trail whose trailhead is just before the two upper parking lots. I think the trail is marked as something like Rio Ventisquero. The trail is very steep and muddy, however.

My wife and I did not participate in any of Sendeos Patagonias organized standard tours but were given a special VIP tour of the area from Puerto Ibanez to Cerro Castillo. It is a magnificent road offering varying views of some of the most beautiful of the Carretera Austral and a fourwheel drive is mandatory to access these roads. Mary, our guide, had an amazing knowledge of the area, whether it was the terrain, the geology, the fauna, flora, culture, history, real estate prices, politics etc. And she managed to share her passion for the area in a way that you could not help falling in love with the landscape and place. Had we had more time to explore the backlands by hiking or riding we would certainly have chosen Senderos Patagonia as our guides.
