Would recommend the walk from Thale to Treseburg about 3 hours. Beautiful scenery - waterfalls, rockpools, tree tops, mountains and valleys and high views. No scrambling and down rocks, easy to follow. The place for a beer at the end in Treseburg is up on the hill as you enter. It was excellent. Food and prices were great. We were tempted to stay for dinner but had other plans. You can catch the bus back from Tresesburg to Thale on the free Harz tourist ticket. All in all a great day.

Nice surprise small park and together you can go to the city park as well. You can perfectly spend a half day there. The miniatures are well made and it is fun to see the place you have been in the Harz area or the place you are going to visit.

We walked up the Brocken from Schierke and had an amazing experience. The path going up is generally very well signaled, and when we went up (in February), it wasn't too crowded or too lonely. It takes about 3 hours to go up, and some parts are pretty rough, so it gives you a nice challenge without being inaccessible. The restaurant at the top and the train ride down are exactly what you need once you're done conquering the mountain!
5. Damwild Gehege
Im großzügigen Gehege für Damwild können die Tiere unter natürlichen Bedingungen beobachtet werden. Einige Tiere sind handzahm und lassen sich durch den Zaun füttern. Direkt gegenüber der Anlage befindet sich ein kostenfreier Parkplatz des Hotels Schanzenhaus. Hier gibt es ab 16 Uhr auch die Möglichkeit, auf eine Tasse Kaffee einzukehren. Der Besuch der Hirsche ist kostenfrei.
