Dzanga-Sangha Reserve

Reviewed By africanman_840 - Nairobi, Kenya

I recently got back from the Dzanga Sangha National Park.I have been on 19 safaris all over Africa and I have to say that this was one of the most fabulous ever.I was amazed to see two types of pangolins, forest elephants, lowland gorillas, agile mangabeys and forest buffalos. The bird watching was also excellent.I cant believe that I saw a silverback gorilla that might as well be a 'kingkong'.I went to the bai which was originally made famous by American elephant researcher Andrea Tekalo. Every time I went I saw 100 different elephants. There were also plenty of bongo and forest elephant in the bai. It was absolutely awesome to watch the elephants giving themselves mud baths and digging for minerals. Please keep in mind that this are forest elephants.I also got to see real pygmies, this was quite amazing. The river was beautiful and this was a great experience.

Les Chutes de Boali

Though the water only flows during the Central African Republic's wet season, the Boali Waterfalls warrant a journey from Bangui.

I was at the falls near the end of the rainy season. The amount of water was astounding. Since the last war the infrastructure around the falls has deteriorated. Below the first lookout the steps have collapsed. The wet rocks are quite slippery and require surefootedness to keep from falling. Locals have their hands out for tips and want to charge as much as they think they can get. We were the only tourist present.
