Lovely location but needs to improve guest communication

Reviewed By Bowoodforest

Casa Rossa ai Colli is in a lovely location with beautiful grounds and a scenic outlook, overlooking the town of Ragogna, with far reaching views of the surrounding plains and Dolomite mountains. Our room was on the second floor (akin to a loft room) and of reasonable size, although rooms on lower levels (which our friends had) appeared far more spacious and better equipped for the same price. Furnishings were adequate and tea and coffee making facilities were available in the hallway. Whilst the bed was comfortable, the room was quite hot, as there was no air-conditioning and it was not possible to fully open the windows. The room did however contain a portable fan which gave some relief. Interestingly, our friend’s room on the first floor had no fan but had windows one could open which generated a through breeze, as well as their own in room tea and coffee making facility. A good quality buffet breakfast was provided with the option to sit either indoors or on the terrace area. Cold meats (including prosciutto), cheeses, pastries, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, juices and a choice of hot beverages were provided, whilst guests could also have eggs cooked to their individual requirements. Casa Rossa also has a separate restaurant, providing nightly dinners, as well as lunches on weekends. Unbeknown to us and not pointed out to ourselves in advance by the owners of Casa Rossa, the restaurant can be booked out for functions, in which case guests at Casa Rossa can not use the restaurant facilities. It was only when we inquired about lunch that we were advised the restaurant was totally closed for the entire day due to a wedding. One would have thought that the owners, as an act of courtesy and customer service, should alert guests well in advance when the restaurant facilities will be unavailable, not at the time guests plan to turn up for a meal. When the issue was raised, we were simply told “sorry”, so we then purchased drinks and food from the nearby village. What then made matters worse, was we were then told we could not have access to the breakfast room, so had nowhere to house cold drinks or food which we had purchased (Note: The rooms do not have a bar fridge). Notwithstanding the above management issue, all staff were very pleasant and courteous throughout the duration of our 3-night stay. Would I stay at Casa Rossa again? Probably not, due the lack of customer empathy / care towards guests with the restaurant issue that we encountered, which left a “sour taste”.

A True Gem!

My wife and I were visiting family in Ragogna this past fall. B&B Marina had been recommended to us as a great place to stay. They were absolutely correct. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the owner Marina who showed us to our room and happily showed us all the amenities at our disposal, including WIFi. Each morning Marina doted on us, preparing a lovely nutritious breakfast. We particularly liked our long chats about the Friuli in general and Ragogna/Muris in particular. I can not recommend this B&B more. A veritable gem!

Le Tre Civette - Residenza DI Campagna

Beautiful views and peace!

Reviewed By Go41944021879

The rooms at Le Tre Civette are wonderfully large and comfortable with a terrace. The bathrooms most plush. It is a haven of peace with the most wonderful views. The pool is very special. I found the breakfasts disappointing, although Signora does bake a cake each day if you eat cake!. The staff are friendly but don't speak English. The drive up to Le Tre Civette is along a bumpy track but one gets used to this each day. There are good restaurants nearby in Pula. The wild cats are very annoying as they bother one the whole time.
