Big room, cozy and nicely decorated

The place doesn't have an attractive entrance door and doesn't say much from outside, so we were pleasantly surprised by the nice interior full of plants and natural light. We loved our room, ample and with a beautiful decoration. The mattress was super comfortable and the bathroom big, with warm water. The restaurant is where we had a typical Argentinian breakfast consisting of croissants, butter, toasts and jam. There are stairs to the first floor, which can be a bit of a problem in the period of adaptation to La Quiaca's high altitude. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Crystal Hotel

Careful consideration culls all but Crystal!

The only reason there is not a fifth star on this exceptionally fine overnight is because of a stairwell, my nemesis as I “age out” and struggle with ascending/descending these effective barriers to any more disabled person (i.e., wheelchairs). I’m extremely grateful for the handrail, which will continue to ensure my accessibility—until I lose what little upper body strength I have left! Anyway, this is the perfect location for me; it was a close downhill Gimpwalk from the bus station her, and a downhill Gimpwalk to the border, too! As I’ve got to acclimatize to the altiplano/AMS, there is no better place—the bed is comfortably firm, the free brekkie (accompanied with ample café con lechè!), and, most importantly, the friendly/helpful staff. The WiFi is consistent, most reliable in the cafe/lounge/reception area. I highly recommend this hotel, and it certainly has my enthusiastic “iWheel of Approval!”

Hotel Munay La Quiaca

A bit overpriced, but otherwise good

Reviewed By Jessica F

We somehow got lost in La Quiaca without a map, and, after an hour of walking, this was the first place we found that had beds that weren't ridiculously priced (we were coming from Bolivia and had not yet figured out how expensive Argentina had gotten!). Anyway, we were quoted at 200 pesos for a double when we arrived, but haggled and got a double non-matrimonial (actually a twin and a bunk bed) without breakfast for 150. We had gone a few weeks with sub-standard showers, so we were absolutely delighted with how breathtakingly wonderful the shower was. They had to turn on the hot water for us, but it was non-electric, had great pressure, and had endless amounts of hot water. Heaven. We were only there about 12 hours but we showered twice. Staff were pretty friendly. Room and bathroom were clean. Bathroom was actually pretty big and had a bidet (you know, a butt cleaning toilet, I googled how to spell it). Great location near restaurants and an easy walk from the bus station. Also walkable from the border if you're heading to or from Bolivia. Also a heads up for anyone coming from Bolivia - you need to change your money there - no money changers on the Argentina side! I would recommend checking this place out, but definitely haggle to get the price down. Not sure what else La Quiaca has for rooms (apparently we just didn't run into the budget options) but this place was just fine. I was a bit shocked by the other reviews.
