The Newcastle arms is by far the best place I have stayed! They show nothing but kindness and warmth! Nothing is to much trouble! You have accommodated my stay in every way possible, the food was delicious as always, and the bed was super comfy. Cheap average place

Basic, reasonably priced, free breakfast, good area, would be good to have a chair or chest /bench in the room to lay down clothes, or small table. Also very thin walls, mum next door heard everything we spoke about. Comfy bed and good pillows. Was good to use back entrance, that comes put to the car park (free parking), many choices to eat out, as food wasn't served on Friday evening, we went to Public Bar down the road, great prices and tasty food, also dog friendly.

Tim's B&B

Very Comfortable Stay

Reviewed By 171harrys

Stayed here in August 2019. Very comfortable experience, Tim was a great host and gave us a small tour of the place upon arriving. We had access to a spacious bedroom with two twin beds which were very comfortable, a bathroom which had shower gel and shampoo included. The living room was very large with comfortable sofas and a wide selection of cereals, jams and juices for breakfast. Overall for the price, very good. Would definitely recommend for people looking for a cheap ish stay in this area

Bank House Guest House

Described as a Guest House. No, its not......!!!

Reviewed By jinkertsun

We had booked into another property through a holiday booking company but when we contacted the owner of the property on the day we were travelling to let them know our arrival time they said they weren't expecting us. Later that day after several phone calls back and forth we got a story from the owner about some of her other guests wanting to extend their stay in the rooms we had booked in the other property and we were being moved to Bank Guest House. Sorry, if you take a booking you don't let other people just decide to extend their stay. (Was this a cock and bull story?) Several times we were told this was an upgrade but to be honest it didn't feel like one. My particular room had two double beds in it and an assortment of furniture which included a rocking chair in the alcove. The bathroom was on a different landing across the stairs. Not really what you want in this day and age and especially as this was two blokes who would definitely hit the town for a few pints that night. Both sets of beds had bedside cabinets but only one side of the room had bedside lamps. There was a TV, fridge and microwave in the room so that suggests they're happy for you to take food into your room. I really can't visualise a scenario where two double beds are required but maybe I'm missing something here? One big positive was the view from the rocking chair window of the River Tweed rolling past and the rear garden which was lovely. Its described as a guest house when to my mind it should be described as a hostel. We didn't book here in the first place because we didn't like the look of it and having stopped there, albeit, for only one night our opinion hasn't changed. We won't be back to stop there but Coldstream itself was very friendly where people actually stop to say hello or ask what you're up to. All in all it didn't ruin our trip to Scotland and we can make do and mend but it wasn't what we wanted. The poor reviews imho are justified.
