My husband and I were fortunate enough be staying where Imagine Tours operated. We had a rental car but after hearing how knowledgeable José was about the history, understanding of key local architecture and notable ‘must see’ areas, we opted to take advantage of an offered, fairly priced, all-day tour. We travelled in a well-equipped, comfortable touring van and important to us, as our Portuguese was almost nonexistent, our lovely hosts both possessed excellent English language skills. We learned so much and are grateful we chose to do this tour because we would have missed some essential information about Northern Portugal, had we travelled on our own. Great outfit, could not have asked for more accommodating and delightful hosts. Would definitely have taken another trip had we more time. We highly recommend hooking up with Imagine Tours

Went on this tour last October, and had a wonderful experience! Silvia was our guide and she was so amazingly sweet and thoughtful. We travelled with a french couple and she literally explained everything in two languages: French and English. Not only is that extremely nice, I can only imagine the energy that takes :) The whole experience of driving through Douro, the wines, the people we spoke to and the delicious wines we could taste: would definitely recommend. We went on a tour of Barcelos, Braga, and Guimaraes with José and his companion Evangeline (?) and it was a great day. They picked us up right outside our place in central Porto in the morning, and then we headed to the street market in Barcelos (which runs on Thursdays... we didn't buy anything, but it was fun to experience)... Other than the market, Barcelos is a fairly sleepy town, feels pretty "local" and off the beaten path, though it is famous for the legend of the "Rooster of Barcelos" which has become a symbol across all of Portugal. From there, we headed to Braga, which has something like 26 churches -- and we got to take a look at probably a dozen of them over the course of the day, including the impressive Cathedral which was a major seat of Catholic power in the area... in addition to the nearby Bom Jesus, which is beautifully located up a mountain at the end of a long-stretching staircase (although unfortunately they are doing renovations inside the church right now... but the exterior views are the star of the show, anyway.) Finally, we made our way to Guimaraes, the "birthplace" of Portugal since this is where the first king, Alfonso Henriques was born, and where he battled his mother to declare independence from Spain (long story. The guides will tell it to you!) There is a castle here, but we walked past it and spent time touring the more grandiose Dukes manor nearby. The town itself is also pleasant to walk through -- quaint and medieval in its layout, but still a fairly large city. After all of this, we were quite satisfied but, even though the tour was technically done, José was nice enough to show us a few more sights... he had time, so he extended the tour to do a little detour down the coastal region, seeing the beach towns and fisherman villages, such as Vila Nova do Conde, with a historical Portuguese sailing ship and a couple more interesting churches. Oh, I forgot to mention... this is billed as a "small group tour" which would have been fine, but it ended up being a private tour for just the two of us! Even better!

We had tickets to see Madonna's Madam X Tour in Lisbon in early 2020. On our prior visit to Lisbon with my mother, we had such a great experience with Andre we reached out again to arrange custom tours to Sintra and Porto while there. Andre was such a pleasure and made sure we had got the most out of our trips outside of Lisbon. The first trip was to Sintra. While Pena Palace is a very popular and photogenic site to visit, there are other palaces and hidden gems to include while there. Make sure you include local food and drinks as well. We are still missing the pastries at Piriquita and the local foods at restaurants in small towns along our way. The views along the coastline are spectacular. A couple of days later we did a day trip to Porto to see if we should stay there on our next trip to Portugal. What a great decision! I was well worth the trip to view the city from the bridges, walk through the city, sit and sample port wines (with chocolates) and views at a local distillery. Andre's tours will not disappoint you and if you have can't decide, he is very good at helping you build the tour that best meets your needs. Highly recommend checking out his new website and plan for an unforgettable time!

This was a brilliant day out visiting different wineries and port houses in the Douro Valley. We liked all the places we visited and learned a lot about the history and methods of port and wine making. We loved the river trip and lunch in a small town restaurant. It was great to get out into the countryside and be chauffeured around without worrying about anything. Our guide was really charming and knowledgeable – we asked a lot of questions about all sorts of topics and he was very willing to have a good conversation and seemed to know everything. The other people on our tour were lovely and we actually met some of them in town and had a drink a couple of days later.
