Maihaugen offers activities and experiences for the whole family. Enjoy the idyllic surroundings and experience life like in the old days. The museum has more than 200 historic houses from as far back as the 13th Century to homes of the different decades of the 1900s, including Queen Sonja’s childhood home. Grazing animals in the open-air museum. All year you can look into historical houses and visit great exhibitions, the museum shop and café. Don't miss our popular Christmas Market in November/December.
Does as it says on the tin. In winter with the snow it was quite beautiful to walk around. Lots of different wooden cabins and building that represented classic style from days gone by. Set in beautiful surroundings with lakes and woodland. Nice to get out in fresh air after doing the Olympic museum. Both are situated in the same place.

The childrens favorite place to visit, lots of activities. DuVerden Maritime Museum + Science Centre is a vibrant venue with activities for young and old. The centre has created a link between the area's rich maritime history and future-oriented education as well as industrial development. The spectacular building houses exhibitions and installations. The objective is to stimulate interest in maritime history, science and technology through interactive communication methods - especially for children and young people. Consequently, learning through playing and experimenting is essential when visiting DuVerden. The centre has its own amphitheatre, which seats fifty people, and is used for 3D films. The weather turntable illustrates weather in a new way. Spin it as hard as you can, and a fan will produce a storm strength wind. We also have a big toy for the big boys: Our ship bridge simulator lets you control a ship and you can navigate up the river to Skien or out on to the fiord. Welcome to a great experience!

"Popsenteret, the surprisingly brilliant interactive museum of Norwegian pop (more than just A-ha, it turns out)." - Dixe Wills, The Guardian. English subtitles and signage throughout the exhibition. Popsenteret is Oslos interactive museum of popular music. Our mission is to exhibit the vast history of Norwegian popular music and culture. The center makes use of cutting-edge audio-visual technology, amongst other things inviting guests to record in our studios, mix their own tracks and undertake album-cover photo shoots. Record famous songs by artists such as A-ha and make it your own. Dowload your recording, and have an amazing and fun memory from your trip to Norway! We also display some of the most sought-after and rare Norwegian music memorabilia spanning more than 100 years of popular music and pop-culture. Popsenteret is a must-visit for music fans of all ages!
I loved this museum. There is so much to do, included many different opportunities to listen to all the music on your own and in the context of the museum's exhibit. Besides many videos throughout the displays, there are listening pods, album selection tables, and music video listening rooms. There is a whole "do it yourself" studio that takes you through the whole music writing, recording, and distribution process. The interactive aspects seemed fun and reminded me of the ABBA Museum in Stockholm. Can't be missed for any music lover!
