I really can’t express how amazing this serene , beautifully kept place is. I only learned that it existed a couple of months ago as was in the area staying for a couple of nights with my husband. We wandered around the gardens in beautiful sunshine gasping at how wonderful Carfin grotto is. I caught mass in the chapel which made our visit even more special. I live 90 miles away but will be back. It is a free place to visit and I’ve been told there’s no more money to keep it open. We’d have happily have paid to visit. I pray that it dosent close

Railway Tavern

Excellent bar if your waiting for a train, this is my second visit to the railway tavern due to the sporadic timetable of trains. Both times the staff have been super friendly and it has a nice buzzing atmosphere with places to sit round the bar so if your alone you don’t feel too out of place. I expect the prices may be higher than some of the other pubs near by but I’m not surprised. It’s lovely inside, music playing, racing on the screens and nice decor. Next time I’m stranded in Motherwell I’ll be back.

A museum and heritage centre with exhibitions, archives and local studies, activities and workshops. You can find out about the history of North Lanarkshire or research your family tree. The exhibitions change regularly and the Climb Thru Time exhibition in the tower relates the history of Motherwell. Relax in the garden area or take a look at the views over Lanarkshire and beyond from the viewing tower. Hire the conference room for meetings and community groups.

Very interesting displays and very kind, nice friendly atmosphere and staff. The rooftop gallery gives us a great view over Motherwell and surroundings.
