It is an amazing museum of WWII, where you can see and learn the original Greek defense line and moments of their fights against nazis .

I would imagine most people see Nafpaktos as a stop on the way to better known landmarks ; disgorge the bus to visit the toilets, take some quick snap-shots and maybe a drink. Nothing wrong with that, but the little really deserves a longer visit. The old Venetian port and castle are so charming and picturesque ; they also have a lot of history behind them - remember The Battle of Lepanto . . . that was here ! Walk around the old port (don't miss Cervantes Statue !), through the arch in the fortified wall towards the Gulf of Corinth and watch the young people dive off the small pier, then have a stiff drink in one of the many cafe's around the small harbour. Now continue your trip.

Having been in Gravia many years ago, I had no idea that this little museum really existed in this glorious greek landmark. Very beautiful representation of the famous inn, excellent guide, very interesting sharing of information. If you find yourself in Gravia, don't miss it!

The Spartans have been romanticised through the lens of history. But rather than mere hyperbole, this archeological site lays out a historic fact: the Spartan warriors were highly trained, well armed, and highly disciplined; loyal to not only their king (in this instance Leonidas I), but loyal to the ideals that distinguished them as a people - classical Greek ideals embracing philosophy, virtue, simplicity, intense training, and justice. After the Greeks were betrayed by a traitor, which was the only thing that compromised their task of holding out against the Persians until reinforcements came, Leonidas allowed other forces sent by other Greek city-states to return home and escape inevitable doom. But he said that he and his 300 men would fight to the end. This has been memorialized by a plaque on top of the burial mound where the 300 were laid to rest. Very profound to contemplate. Also allow time for the museum across the road.
