Family of 5 plus baby: a mistake not to book, midweek June lunch we were the only customers and I think some notice would have helped. Antipasto delicious particularly mushrooms, and mushroom tagliatelle also very good as was boar pasta dish. Good house Chianti. No room for secondi piatti. Appears to be a family business . Would be hard to access without transport. Beautiful vegetable garden.

Coreglia Antelminelli is a beautiful town in the heart of the Garfagnana. Like many towns in this area, there is a lot of walking up and down steep hills, but after a couple of hours of exploring we were in need of delicious food, in a relaxed environment with good service. And l'Arcile was the perfect restaurant to deliver all of these. The restaurant itself is in a terrace which feels part of a family house. It is cosy (there are only 8-10 tables) but it doesn't feel crowded. I was there for lunch with my partner, four kids and my sister, and we stuck to pasta dishes (it was nearly 40 degrees), which were all simply delicious, and served very quickly. The environment and food were easily good enough to make sure we visit again, but the stand out feature of this restaurant was the staff. The food was served by two young ladies who simply could not do enough to make sure our visit was perfect. They were polite, friendly, professional and extremely helpful. When they saw that our children were young, they asked if we would prefer half servings (which we did), and asked if we wanted an empty plate for the youngest rather than ordering him a separate meal (which we did). They then brought him a Peppa Pig plate, which made him the happiest 2 year old in the whole of the Garfagnana My Italian is poor, but they humoured me and spoke to me only in Italian even though I heard them speak English very well to other tables. I really appreciated that. The food was reasonably priced (7-8 euro for a generous plate of pasta) and when we left the restaurant all of our party agreed that we will definitely be visiting again. There is a bar (roughly) opposite that serves great gelato which we ate on the steps of an old church which was the perfect end to a wonderful meal. This restaurant struck the perfect balance of good food and great service in a friendly, cosy environment. Oh, and at the risk of being indelicate, you are unlikely to find a toilet with a better view in the Garfagnana!

Restaurant Alpino

The restaurant is noted for its excellent wine list and wonderful local and Tuscan dishes. Wine is a passion here - the cantina holds delights from both Tuscany (including a good selection of the so-called 'Super-Tuscans'). Great care has been taken in ad

Old style Italian restaurant with a quaint, old-fashioned feeling. No rush at all. Beautiful carpaccio of tuna - thinly sliced tuna which tastes like quality meat! Main courses were duck breast with balsamic vinegar and chicken breast with a wine sauce (vinsanto) and pine kernels and raisins. Beautifully prepared and presented. Delish. Lovely, complimentary house red. The owner also waited table - he's a perfectionist apparently. Also does cooking too, with another chef. A little more expensive than others in Barga but worth it. Just a very nice overall experience.
