I cannot recommend this place enough the service from the owner Mark was absolutely impeccable. The place is very small and making a reservation is a must. Nothing is too much trouble. Everyone’s food was amazing. This was one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a long time. My favourite dish was the balsamic tomatoes with melted goats cheese as a starter and the lemon sole was amazing as a main. Such a big portion.

Scarlet Wines

Restaurant, wine shop and deli. Friendly, helpful staff and a comfortable relaxed atmosphere, plus great food and the best wine selection for miles around. Oh, and great coffee too.

We visited this restaurant on Wednesday evening after checking open times on web, however they were closed that evening! We visited again on Friday evening and was greeted with very friendly staff who immediately accommodated us, although excellent service we were disappointed with choices in the menu as apart from seafood and a very spicy option all the pizza we’re vegetarian, we are meat eaters, we had to pay extra to have prosciutto added to a very boring margarita pizza. We purchased a bottle of wine from the store on our way out to enjoy at home which was excellent value. We also returned on Saturday morning for a coffee which was lovely. We would definitely return to purchase wine or have a coffe but would definitely not eat here again.Hello, thanks for your review...I do understand that but we are trying to persuade as many customers as we can to eat less meat. Meat is huge contributor to climate change so as a society we all urgently need to eat less if we are to save our species from likely extinction. There is a meat option available - as you realised. We still think the pizza is good value even when you add the optional meat. We just to make it as easy as possible for customers to choose healthy, low carbon options. Thanks for coming to Scarlet and I’m pleased you liked the rest of the experience.Kind regardsJon

I have been to St Ives many times but have never been into the Cheese On Coast shop before now. I can honestly say I have been missing out big time. The shop is full of everything you need for a cheese feast. The cheese counter itself has a very good range of local Cornish cheeses and also European cheeses too. The lady who served me was very knowledgeable about the cheese they stocked and how it tasted. For the quality of produce the prices are good.Fantastic to see that there is one person serving, and another taking the money and after each customer was served, the lady changed her gloves. This shows they are serious about food hygiene standards. It may take longer to be served but it's worth the wait. The only downside is that I didn't buy more of the Cornish blue. Hi Chappo07,Great to hear you enjoyed your trip to our little cheese shop, if your wanting more Cornish Blue but are not around St Ives at the moment we are on-line as well and can deliver UK wide next day so can enjoy as much Cornish Blue as you like.
