We visited in june and this was the only restaurant that served food in Santa Caterina. Good pizzas and just a few other dishes that are posted on a Writing board. Fast service and resonabel prices. If you sit outside you sit just by the sea with execent views of the sunset and sea.

Unassuming bar tucked in the first back street from the harbours edge hides a large open courtyard subtly lit and carefully furnished with artful mixed fabrics. Hidden from view via tunnels of plush padded seating areas, the music wafts through each space enticing you to find the area that fits you best and explore a taste bud expression of flavour by picking one of the many cocktails on the menu. Chill, chat or choose a nibble from the menu, anyone can be a cool cat in this pad.

It was important to try a spumone in Salento. I don't know much about the history of spumoni, but the Nelsalento website says that it is a specialty of Salento, and the wonderful Gianna Greco of the Cooking Experience told us, while in Lecce doing her cooking class, that the spumoni at Caffe Parisi is perfect. Who were we to argue with an expert on food in the region? Indeed, the spumone (a molded gelato with layers) was delicious with a layer of hazelnut gelato and I believe another of fior de latte with a layer of crunchy candied almonds in between. Delicious. We were only sorry to not have time to try their food and drinks; it was beautiful inside (we were outside in the sun) and looks like a very funky place.
