It is always great to find the unexpected when visiting a new place. Wild and windy Borth with its slate grey skies, impressive dunes and bulwarked pebbled beach is a wonderful place for blustery beach combing walks. And on a wintery June night it was a huge pleasure to enter this wonderful little 70 seat boutique Cinema to see Rocketmam in surroundings so beautifully fitted out. An upstairs bar with friendly bar maid and panoramic view across the flat grasslands and distant mountains sets you up for a great night out. A restaurant will soon be open for pre film supper. Plump easy chairs down one side and wide modern seating opposite, large as first class Jumbo jets, with drink pockets and snuggly fleeces adding to your comfort. Before the Pearl and Dean ads and trailers we were treated to a short documentary of how this old Chapel had been transformed single-handedly by one man, who turned out to be the usher who had taken our tickets and shown us to our seats. What a fantastic achievement, and not to be missed if you ever visit this little town.

We have been here many times over the years and have never been disappointed. The food is always excellent with good service from a very good staff. It does not matter if we have had the roast or something else of the menu or specials board we have always had an excellent meal. This is the only restaurant we will ever take any guest of ours for a Sunday Lunch as we know we are going to have a good meal.

This has been one of our favourite places for years, we have stayed here many times and always eat here when visiting so we were really looking forward to our dinner in the bar.The menu looked smaller than normal but that was ok. I had the fish and chips and my partner the steak, both these we have had before however the quality this time was not there. The mushy peas looked like they had come from a can, the fish was tasteless and greasy and the steak was mainly fat and gristle. We did tell the bar man when he asked if all was ok and he just said oh! And walked away to the kitchen and we got no further response or recognition of the complaint. We paid in full but won’t be returning for food unless the quality goes back to its previous standards.Hello IRFTNYT, Thank you for your review, sorry to hear about your recent experience, I would love to discuss this in more detail. if you would be so kind as to give me a call on 01654 767215 or email [email protected]. I look forward in hearing from you. Kind RegardsNicola

We found this restaurant by mistake as we had tried to book into the pub up the road but it was fully booked so we directed to try our luck here. We were so glad to have stumbled upon this little gem. The food was great, we both had the surf and turf which was amazing and filled us both up. They served good wine. The owners were very friendly. Would definitely revisit.

Went as part of a group. Staff very welcoming, accommodating, friendly and helpful. We were 13 and all had different combinations of Tapas, Pizza, Veggie, Meat, Desserts etc., and all enjoyed everything they ate.So good some of us went back the next day for lunch!Venue is wheelchair accessible and staff keen to ensure you sit where you want by rearranging tables. The only issue which stops an excellent review is that the toilets are in the pub next door. Diners, dining alone or needing assistance will have a dilemma if nature calls.

Heard all about this place so I decided to pay a visit with friends .Thete was 10 of us so we booked a table for 7pm .They have a good amount of drinks to choose from "Beers/ Wines / Gins / spirits ect" they also have deals on 2/1 on cocktails depending on what time you arrive. The place itself is reasonably big but not too big so you dont feel to enclosed it's really nicely decorated also. There is a basic but good menu to choose from with plenty of burgers and pizzas to look at .Food was great and the service was fantastic the staff always happy to help .The food is reasonable when it comes to Price so i would say it's well worth a visit if your passing .Theh have a small area outside at the back but it is small but dont let this put you off...Keep up the good work

Walkers Quality Restaurant

Reviewed By Shellyh11

I tend to go to Walkers once a year whilst visiting my families caravan in Tywyn. I generally have the seafood platter which consists of different pieces of fish and prawns. It’s a MASSIVE feed! The fish is all beautifully cooked and was delish. Very good value for money as well. My mum had the mushroom and beef stroganoff which was also very tasty, and not a stingy portion. The staff here are always very friendly and chatty. The only criticism I would have is that the frozen chips aren’t nice - A little bit like cardboard, and the sauces are all low quality sachets which is a massive shame, because instead of complimenting the beautiful fish, it added a nasty cheap taste. The minor criticisms aside, a nice and good value restaurant. Hello thanks so much for your review. Next time you come I will take you in the kitchen and show you they are not frozen chips. They are cut by a machine that makes them look like that. As for the sauces I was thinking about that the other day. That I can change . we are always happy to improve. I’m glad you injoyed your food and will take your comments on board. THANKS Lisa Walker x

We came to Proper Gander on recommendation, for Sunday Lunch. How refreshing to be served freshly prepared hearty food that has not come pre prepared from a catering wholesaler. Great ingredients of very high quality obviously cooked with pride and passion by the Chef's team. The accompanying service and warm restaurant ambience matched the superb taste of the dishes, both menus reflecting eye watering unpretentious choices. The modest prices are the icing on the cake for dining here. How lucky we are.
