This place is beyond amazing! We recently returned from our stay and we are already dreaming of going back to Villa LaLa. It’s soooooo beautiful and serene! We’ve traveled many places and this is one of the best places we’ve ever stayed! It was so relaxing and we felt at home with all the staff and the owner! Everyone was so nice and wonderful! I could go on and on about how awesome this place is! We spent our time relaxing by the pool, eating and drinking delicious food and drinks, sunbathing on the dock, kayaking to Boca beach, hiked along the costal trail, took naps in hammocks and enjoyed all the views and sunsets! This place is so magical and we can’t wait to go back!!!!

The Gem of "Barradise"!

Four glorious weeks of sun, sand, good food, seeing old friends and meeting new ones! This was our second stay at Villa Santa Barbara. It feels like home from the moment you arrive. Barb, the host, lives on site. She welcomes you at the gate on arrival and gives you a tour of the Villa amenities and your suite where cold beer, wine and a homemade meal await. The suites are spotlessly clean and roomy with a large king size bed and well appointed kitchen. There is additional outdoor kitchen area set with a bar, BBQ and large palapa for eating and socializing. The room view looks onto the pool deck with a background of palm trees lining the canal. Everything is just minutes away by walking or water taxi is available from the Villa dock for a quick picturesque trip. There is a large selection of places to eat, everything from savory vendor snacks, ocean side restaurants to fine dining all within a few blocks. The sunsets are spectacular!!! Barb has lived in Barra for many years. She is very knowledgeable on the area and happily shares recommendations with her guests. This place is truly the gem of Mexico! We are already planning our next vacation!

Has potential to be great

Reviewed By wendy k

My husband and I stayed a week at the San Tropico Jan 5-12. We booked this hotel because we wanted a home style accommodation with kitchen after spending some 20 days at two Marina Vallarta hotels eating restaurant foods. We also liked to stay in the Marina area. This hotel has potential to become a great small hotel if they improve on maintenance and management. Location: San Tropico’s location is about 20 minutes walk to shops and restaurants. Not the most convenient but the walk is nice during the day. A taxi or Uber ride is better should one need to go out or get back after dark as the area is very quiet except for barking dogs when one walks past those luxury houses. The Service: All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Though the front desk is located in an open area, I would prefer the staff wear face masks while interacting with hotel guests given the Omicron is spreading fast and PV has got the most cases per capital in Jalisco early Jan. When I was at staying at the Marriott and Holiday Inn & Suite, all staff wore masks in both outdoor or indoor areas. Our suite was not serviced one day. We are late risers and usually have our room cleaned after 2pm. We noted that the cleaning staff usually came around 3pm most days. Last Sunday we waited till 3:45pm and no one came. I went to the front desk to check only to be told all cleaning staff were gone for the day. Think management should advise guests if cleaning services are unavailable Sunday afternoons. Hotel Grounds and Room: Hotel grounds are beautiful with lots of greens. The hotel has a small bar/ eating area that serves breakfast and simple lunch till 4pm. We did not try the food so cannot comment. The pool looks clean and there are plenty of lounge chairs available. The suites are very spacious and have full kitchen equipped with basic cooking utensils, cutlery and tablewares. The suite we had was very clean but there were some maintenance issues. 1. Loose toilet seat in the second bathroom. They fixed it quickly. 2. Kitchen sliding window wouldn’t lock. As we had a ground floor suite facing the street so we asked the maintenance guy to cut out a rod to keep the window shut at night. 3. Inconsistent water temperature. Think there is problem with the pressure balance. One gets either burning hot or cold water in the kitchen. En-suite shower ok but second bathroom shower experienced inconsistent water temperature sometimes. Also we could not use both showers at the same time, else no hot water. 4. Old and cheap cutlery inconsistent in number- 5 knifes, 4 forks, 7 table spoon, 6 teaspoons . Time to get new sets. Also same for table ware. Many plates and bowls are badly chipped. 5. Some linens are very old and need to be replaced This hotel offers great value for money but I personally would not mind to pay more if they improve on the above issues. I am glad we stayed on the ground level as there is no telephone to call front desk. We had to go there in person to report any issues and our suite was probably 30 steps away.

Large rustic Mexican style rooms with super comfortable beds. The hotel is right on the beach and has a great pool and lounge area. You can watch some killer sunrises and sunsets too. The hotel is on the less busy part of the beach, so it feels more private. Housekeeping is very friendly and the rooms are spotless. They seem to be doing a good job keeping everything clean and the staff are all wearing masks. If you want an authentic Mexican beachside hotel this is the place!

Yet Another Amazing Stay

Reviewed By StevePSP

Not our first time at Villa Verano and by far it will not be my last. The property has never looked better and it is great to see the (new) pride in ownership at Villa Verano. Of course what continues to get us to come back is the amazingly hospitable staff who is always ever present when needed but never intrusive. Thank you Leonor (and Arturo) for making all our request happen. Thank you, Jose for overseeing your team and making everything seem so effortless. Be sure stick around and let the men of Verano (Freddy, Manny, Eddy & Tony) assist you poolside with a beverage, snack or your meals. Speaking of your meals - save some room because the chefs, Franko and Nestor are crowd pleasers. Most important - the cleanliness . . . thank you Hilda and Maribel for providing a clean a safe environment (daily) for all of us to enjoy. Can’t wait to come back and see the amazing smiles we have all come to love!

Hacienda Mosaico

This art filled Hacienda welcomes singles, couples, small groups for workshops. It is located in Colonia Versalles, a typical upscale Mexican neighborhood that affords visitors a chance to experience the charm of daily life in old Mexico. You will find cobbled streets, where tortillerias and markets cater to the locals rather than the tourists... craft shops, cantinas, night life and adventure. Hacienda Mosaico is ideal for small retreats and intimate parties as well as a quiet respite from the busy world. A tranquil destination in a tropical environment for adults.

The Perfect Retreat

Reviewed By glassfan123

This was my second trip to Hacienda Mosaico and it did NOT disappoint. The atmosphere is really perfect for an art retreat, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the food is truly fabulous, and it is easy to walk to a number of wonderful places for dinner or drinks. You can even walk to and from downtown, which we did several times. Sam, the owner, is welcoming and so accommodating, bringing in a masseuse for our visit, as well as a Covid testing service prior to our flights home, so we didn't have to search one out. She will call a taxi for you, make recommendations of places to go, and take really good care of you! If you are looking for an inspiring place to take an art class with world class instructors, or have the opportunity to just stay here as a B&B, do NOT miss it. I promise you will not regret it!!
