this was hands down, the absolute highlight of my trip to puerto rico! if do just one thing in puerto rico again, THIS would be it! every part of our tour was covid friendly. we maintained our distance and kept our masks on for the entire experience. we were graced with two of the kindest, most knowledgeable tour guides, who offered local tidbits and historical narratives against the backdrop of the area’s suburban landscape en route to the rainforest. we got a taste of the local culture, vegetation, and wildlife we encountered throughout the hike. our views from the top of the waterfall was absolutely breathtaking and worth every step we took to get there. to be completely honest, i enjoyed every step of the climb to the top. rappelling down the waterfall felt at once thrilling and exciting! if i could spend even longer on each segment of the hike, i would! our hike concluded with a mind-numbingly delicious homecooked meal cooked by abuela, topped off with a refreshing coconut sorbet. this hike alone was the definitive moment of my time in puerto rico! i cannot wait to do this again.

This is my second review for spoon tours and it did not disappoint. I did the off the beaten path drive around tour with a well appointed bus that picked us up and brought us to each destination. The best part about spoon food tours are their passionate guides-Gabriel knows his stuff! We explored the Loiza/Pinones/Santurce areas. Chock full of history and food culture. The tour ended with a sweet treat from Doube Cakes. Can’t beat that!

On our last trip to San Juan, we took an afternoon catamaran sail with Sail PR and had an amazing time. It was a great way to see Old San Juan and the bay from a different perspective. This visit, we decided on a private tour/charter because of Covid. We did a morning sail and again, we had an amazing time. Francisco and his staff are great and provide guests with a great bay sail and lots of great historical knowledge of the places we pass. This is one of the best activities to do when in San Juan and I can guarantee you’ll have a great time. Thanks to Francisco and staff for yet another great time.

We went on the boozy bites tour and it was great!! Our guide Gwen knew so much local history and gave us ample time to eat and enjoy each stop. I loved the ceviche at the first stop and we had a chance to make our own mofongo. So fun! The boozy ice cream dessert was fabulous and we got to select our own flavor and booze combo. Highly recommend!

We booked this tour multiple weeks in advance. The day before our tour (and a day after the company had taken our money) I reached out to the company after hearing nothing to figure out where we would be picked up. I was told that our trip was cancelled and had been for a few days, but NO ONE tried contacting me until I called them. How can you take someone’s money for a tour that was already deemed cancelled? The woman I spoke With told me they could give me a full refund but it would take 3-5 days. So, the company took my money, cancelled our trip, and then tied up $300+ for “3-5 days”, causing me to not be able to use that money on a tour that actually was happening. I even have email proof that the tour was booked and paid for. DO NOT BOOK HERE, shady practices and crap communication.

Take the guesswork out of your planning with this all-inclusive tour including round trip transportation, a fully guided rainforest tour, and the world-famous Bio Bay kayak tour. It is the most biologically diverse forest, hosting hundreds of plants and animals, some only found here in Puerto Rico! Bioluminescence is one of planet Earth’s best-kept secrets. Tiny organisms called “dinoflagellates” make the water glow at night and fortunately, they have found the perfect place to live in the Fajardo Bio Bay, so we are able to experience them all year round.

I can say with relative confidence that this is the best tour company to do El Yunque through. I went with some friends on a Saturday and we saw many other tour groups, all of which were much bigger than ours. Instead we got a more intimate and safer experience with a great guide! Do be aware that the cliff jumping, water slides and rope swing are the main event, so if your not the adventure type all you will see is some pretty trees and a heavily trafficked (although gorgeous) set of natural pools. Totally worth it though, for all those adventure lovers out there (or anyone willing to try new things) and this company is definitely the way to go. A must do!
