My wife and me did a 4hour coastal fishing tour with Sergio and Natacha who run Seazores and we can highly recommend it. Both make you feel at home on their boat from the first minute and we spend 4 fantastic hours bottom fishing, chatting, drinking a couple of beers and getting excellent advice for things to do and restaurants. Needless to say we caught our dinner too. What makes them outstanding is the passion they have for their job and the Azores and their genuine friendliness.

Artur was the friendliest guide you can imagine! I highly recommend the tour to Nordeste, with lots of stops at cool spots, beautiful viewpoints, parks etc. If you're looking for some time away from the crowds at P.D. + want to experience the rural/more native Azores: go north!

My friend and I had a blast with Sabrina on our private tours in Sao Miguel. She was patient, fun and helpful on both trips (Furnac and Sete Cidades) It felt as though she was also on vacation with us. She was our driver, tour guide and photographer. We searched everywhere for passion fruit ice cream and Sabrina found it for us at the end of our tour...that was a perfect end. Can't wait to visit Sao Miguel and connect with her again. We highly recommend her for tours in Sao Miguel. She is very knowledgeable, fun and full of ideas for the tours.

We picked the all-in-one tour which included Twin Lakes, fire Lakes and furnas. We were greeted at the cruise ship terminal with our name on a board. After everyone arrived we took off in a van and proceeded to sightsee this Island. Besides the beauty of the island one thing that stood out to us was how clean it was, we did not see any litter on the highway, roads or anywhere. We spent the day zipping here and there giving us enough time to get out and look around at each stop. Now that we have seen the island if we ever go back we would like to just strictly go to the hot springs/bath and enjoy a meal that has been cooked in the ground. Their van was comfortable and tour guides were pleasant and happily answered any questions asked.

The next stop takes you up the mountain of Lagoa do Fogo. Then head down to the Caldeira Velha, a small garden where you can bathe yourself in warm water heated by the volcano. Feeling refreshed after the bath, head next to the Ribeira Grande, a city where you can taste several liqueurs produced by Mulher from the Capote Factory. We had two great tours (one 'solo' to Furnas and east, one w/ 3 other random couples to Sete Cidades) with Samuel Rego of Greencorner Tours, who grew up on Sao Miguel. Not only knowledgeable he is a great guy to spend a day with, speaking excellent English and a good conversationalist. He was also a good driver, no small thing with mountainous roads. We would highly recommend seeing Sao Miguel with Sam!

Loved our Hidden Gems tour so much we ended up scrapping our other plans last minute in order to add the East Tour including Furnas w/ lunch tour. As always, the tour guides (we had Filipe on one tour and Miguel on the other) are very knowledgeable, speak fluent English, are super friendly, and really go above and beyond (like they'll carry your babies for you. Seriously). The vans are spacious and comfortable, the prices are more than reasonable, and the sights you will see are priceless. I cannot say enough good things about these tours- a great way to see the island, learn something about its history and culture, take in breathtaking scenery and to just RELAX!

You didn´t have the time to read your guidebook and want to see as much as possible of the island in a day? If you don´t want to rent a car, or just want to relax and stay away from having to navigate in a foreign place, just let a local like me do this for you. Believe me it is a great way for you to get to know the ways around the island. I know the island better than no other, and I will take you to all of our favorite places around: volcanos, thermal pools, waterfalls, lakes and breathtaking viewpoints. I will show and explain to you this little natural paradise I call home, in the way I myself like to see it and experience it. You can choose to navigate the Center & West or Center & East of the island. It is not possible to see all of the island in one day, but you can book this experience twice for 2 full days of exploring all the island.

Inclusions: Private transportation, Bottled water

Exclusions: Entrance Fees to Thermal Pools and Lava Caves

First the negative - don't do this if you have a serious fear of heights. And if it's cloudy enough that you can't see the peaks from below, don't even bother. Now the positive - however scary some of the trail looks as if it might be from below, it isn't as bad as you expect when you get up to the scary-looking bits. And if you can see the views at all they are wonderful, especially on a very clear day. The trail itself is a mix of different landscapes, first climbing through a mossy gully, then past a green bog full of noisy frogs, then up a bleakly beautiful grassy cone to a lookout point with views for miles, followed by another lookout point with views of a lake, then through heath and bracken, down to some woods around a different lakeside, then a climb up through more woods and lovely plants. It's free, and there is a car park and very clear signage. Take a photo of the map in the car park, you won't need it but it's interesting to look at to see where you are.
