Spring and Autumn Pavilion

Located in the waters of Lotus Lake.

After the dragon tiger pavilions, we visited this place. As common in this area, there were big beautiful sculptures of dragons, goddess of mercy and others. There was also an area with plenty of turtles.

Dragon Tiger Tower

Beautiful photos appear all about the lake and this is a great place to start. Going in through the dragon's mouth and departing from the tiger's mouth has symbolic good luck implications. A donation gets you a postcard. The lotus flowers are OK and there is a nice temple opposite the towers. Some decent places to eat are also nearby.

Lianchi (Lotus) Lake

Reviewed By jenkle89 - Hendaye, France

This is a lovely place to go and wander around the lake. There are many beautiful temples and pavilions to see; Dragon-Tiger Pavilion, Ciji Temple, Spring Autumn Pavilion, Qiming Temple and Beiji Xuantizn Shanf Di Pavilion were my personal favourites (all of these are on the same side of the lake). There are some nice souvenir shops just opposite the Dragon-Tiger Pavilion too. The lake is just a short 5minute walk from Zuoying Station.

Beiji Xuantian Shangdi

Reviewed By PaulSiow - Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

This is the third main attraction we came across built on the shore of lotus lake, jutting out to it. The statue of Xuantian or sometimes referred to as the black emperor is gigantic and very imposing and look scary to some people. He is another warrior immortalised as a god in Chinese folklore and now worshipped as a deity in the Taoist tradition. The path leading to this statue is flanked on both sides by many small statues.

Kaohsiung Arena

Reviewed By P4106HTchristineg - Brisbane, Australia

Kaosiung is a city that is well organised for traffic. Its metro was not busy nor its tram when we visited. The highlight was the foyer of the metro's main station with its glass ceiling and piano for anyone to play.
