The heart of the city, where you can relax, watching the tile wall which depicts the cenes of the activitiesof of the region from ancient ages. Please enjoy the restaurants, coffee shops and bars in Rossio and also in the Old Cathedral area!

Hidden away in an abandoned quarry this place was a real surprise. I think we surprised them too - they seemed to be caught out by actual visitors turning up. As with much of this part of Portugal, very few staff spoke English but that didn't stop them making us feel very welcome as they looked after us, the only visitors that afternoon. All the information boards are in Portugese only but they have a supply of booklets with the English which kept the family (including a teenager doing GCSE geology) informed while I got to practice my pidgin Portugese. So much more than I was expecting. Neat, clean, well laid out and very interesting.

This a very different kind of mall. Features a full gym with olympic sized pool, arcade parlor, a massive kid's playground and a hidden ice bar if you dont know ut. Yes, a bar made of ice. Research it.
