To swim in a dam of sea water was my first great experience. To hear and to see big waves hit the rock, was second experience after in Belitung island. Small children were running and playing around, and asked to give money, don't worry just say no politely and you can bring some candies to give them. Their happy eyes were sincerely thanking you.

Mandorak Beach is an absolute stunner, however actually getting onto the sand was an uncomfortable adventure.
We had a day tour from a local guide, but even he and our driver were surprised to find someone blocking our way. A long and animated conversation ensued and were eventually informed we could only get to the beach on foot. Apparently the land behind the beach had been bought by an overseas developer who was refusing admission to the beach by vehicle. We decide to continue for the remaining half a mile or so on foot.
By that time we'd attracted a large group of local children who were following us closely. Unfortunately we were unable to relax at all as we were conscious of being observed by dozens of pairs of eyes.
Our visit was thus cut short, which was a shame as it took absolutely hours to reach this far western part of Sumba.

Sumba is famous for its hill. Wairinding hill offers you scenery you can't find anywhere else. So peaceful and beautiful. Tips: come in the afternoon near sunset time. The sky is so pretty!

The colours are like a phot shopped postcard!!! I believe the beach is private for guests only, which luckily we were. The sand is like golden talcum powder with an amazing rolling surf to swim and body surf in!!! Can't wait to go back!!

The most beautiful mangrove i ever see in east Indonesia, the tree like dancing celebrates the sunset. Some tree are dead or dying due so many people climb on those poor tree. Hope local authorities will taking care about that or all just vanish. The white sand is nice and the sea is very calm.

Located in Waikabubak (+-1,5 hour from Tambolaka Airport), this village offers you a unique experience. You can see how traditional Sumba people live. Instead of converting to new religion (Islam, Chirstian, etc), they are still devoted marapu.
ps. don't forget to take picture wearing their tenun ikat (traditional clothes)!

We were totally alone for our one hour stay and swim at this waterfall. Great location and very photogenic views. Watercolour is really nice and out kids had a good swim there.

After visited Weekuri Lake and Mandorak Beach, we continued our day trip in Kodi area to Ratenggaro Beach. There were two famous attractions here, the traditional village and the beach.
First we visited the village. It was a small village with traditional house. The native people were selling some handycraft. They were really annoying and they followed whereever I went in the village. The children also always ask money.
Then we went to the beach. The best angle to take picture of traditional house in the village was from the beach. But there were another children asking money here. Really annoying.
Government should take action to those people so they will not disturb tourist. And I suggest not to give them money or buy what they sell because it means we support their bad habit.

We were greeted by traditional dancers before a wonderful dinner of traditional food. After dinner we tried on traditional clothing and inspected textiles woven in the village. The textiles are very good value and intricately woven each with their own story. Visitors can inspect a traditional timber house with thatched roof constructed exactly as in days gone by. A very enjoyable trip and highly recommended. There is comfortable accommodation available to stay right in the village and experience daily life.

Not difficult to fimd this location, with thousands of coconut tree and two building Sumba house...Rumah Budaya Sumba. Open free for public. This is private museum. Very interesting when I heard explanation about Sumba with pictures and things there...the souvenirs also very adorable escepcially book about Sumba and cards, three thumbs !
