The Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

The Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is among the finest landscape of the country. It was designated in 1958 and covers 39 miles of coast from Berwick to the Coquet Estuary. Within this stretch of coastline is some of the most dramatic coastal scenery - sweeping sandy beaches, rolling dunes, high rocky cliffs and isolated islands.

Dog friendly sandy beaches stretching for miles and miles with sand dunes, which the dogs loved to explore, easy to park and Dog poo bins in car parks. Stunning views out across the sea to Holy Island, many seabirds, deserted beaches or very few people. We walked Seahouses, Bamburgh, Ross, Dunstan Steads, and Low Newton beaches over 4 days. Stopping at various pubs for a hearty lunch with our dogs. The coastline is stunning, castles, sand dunes etc

My 12 year old daughter and I loved our one hour beach ride on Seahouses beach. Sally was a friendly relaxed guide who matched us perfectly with horses of the right size and speed - all cobs with lovely "hairy hooves". All the horses felt very safe and sensible, but also capable of a good turn of speed on the beach, and they seemed happy with their work. Would thoroughly recommend.

Located at Seafield caravan park. All the facilities are spotlessly clean, pool is 20 metres long, great hot tub, steam room and sauna. Easy access into pool, good disabled changing room. Good food and drink available within lounge area. Highly recommend a visit. Didn't have any treatments so unable to comment on that.

Love this place for the last few years. Great fish to buy when staying local. The best part is ordering fish for home delivery in Cheshire. It works very well and the fish and other goodies always arrive fresh. Well done. Thank you Swallow Fish.

Schooner Inn

Reviewed By Jonny-Northerner - Harrogate, United Kingdom

This place was just down the road from where we were staying so we nipped in for a couple of drinks. A bit weird initially, as the locals were sat at the bar so not much space to get in & order drinks, but everyone appeared pretty friendly & the lady behind the bar was pleasant. Overall The Schooner is a no-frills boozer with decent priced drinks - I'm definitely going back the next time I'm in Seahouses.
