Parque Nacional de Chicamocha

This is a must see park if you are in Santander and in this area. You can either get here by car or cable car. I would strongly recommend the cable car. You not only get to see the marvelous engineering in the construction of this cable car, but also beautiful scenery. It will take you about 22 minutes from the entrance to the park. There is a cost associated with the park and it can vary from $15-18 dollars (depending on the dollar price at the moment) and also wether or not you want to visit the Water park. There is a lot of walking to do, make sure you have water, a good camera and most important a Great attitude. You will find restaurants, shops and you will also have the opportunity to buy Organic coffee. There are activities to do inside the park. Zip lining, you can climb down a water rock about 140 ft, there is also a swing. They all have different prices, but averaging $7-10 dollars. There is also a lot of history. Temperature was about in the 80s and I was told it is always hot. So, I would recommend to do some research about the temperature if you don’t like hot weather. I hope you visit and enjoy it.

Cascada de Juan Curi

Among all the river places, this is the most organized. Good parking, no loud music, no garbage, great. This very high waterfall is actually very beautiful (water is cold “as hell”) and the rappel experience was safe and professional. Recommended.

Camino Real

Reviewed By maristelagm

Camino real is a great hike from Barichara to Guane, 5.1 miles, mostly down, clean, safe, well marked. About half an hour before the end there is a house where cold drinks are sold, just when you most need them! Views from the valley are great. Once in Guane, you can take the bus back to Barichara. The town is simple with a Church and a garden square. Take water, a hat and sunscreen for the hike.

What a fabulous place. It offers many activities. We took the gondola ride across the magnificent canyon which is deeper than the Grand Canyon. A great experience.

Guane

GUANE AND INDIAN HISTORY Guane is a small group of judges whose patron is Saint Lucia , Queen of the blind and in her honor was built in 1600 the church bearing the same name. Located diagonal to the temple is the " paleontological , archaeological and anthropological museum " , founded in 1970 by Isaiah Ardila Diaz. We took a Moto Taxi from Barichara at cost of 40.000 pesos and the guy waited for us to finish our tour. We went into the Guane archeological museum. It is a short tour but interesting. We also visited the church and the shop at the priests house were we bought Santa Lucia's goodies (she is the eyes Saint). My mum bought a bottle of Sabajon form the second shop from the corner on the same side as the museum and the sabajon was off and made my mum very sick, so be aware of that shop.

Parque Gallineral

Reviewed By GekoPablo

The park is quite large with many stoned pathways to stroll and explore the vegetation. With macaws, squirrels, rabbits and parrots to interact with along the way, it becomes a very unique experience. There is also a large swimming pool to dip into to cool off from the warm temperatures and restaurants and bar to refresh and enjoy a meal or snack.
