An ideal place to visit in the Barrio Alta (high part) or Sanlucar which offers fantastic views over Sanlucar, the river and national park.
The garden are exceptionally well maintained and you can also visit more sections of the Gardens and also a visit to the palace if you so wish (times and dates vary during the year). The Palace has a small number of rooms hotel rooms available along with a stunning setting for chilling with a coffee and dessert or even a late night drink.
The inside part of the cafeteria has been restored in keeping with the age of the property and the Gardens are kept to a very high standard.
A 'must visit' on your list of things to do in Sanlucar.

Too bad this activity is not easily findable on Tripadvisor using the search method (keyword "Donana" turns up nothing, please improve your search function and indexing, Tripadvisor!). We visited the Donana National Park from San Luca de Barrameda in late December 2015. We were warned ahead of time the guide would speak only in Spanish, so be aware of this. The visit lasted about 3 hours, about 45 min. on the ferry boat that takes you upriver to the dock in the park on the other side of the river, the rest in 4x4 vans that hold about 25 people each. It is true as others have commented that the brochures make it look like you have some chance of seeing the elusive lynx and other rare birds like eagles. In fact, we saw plenty of deer although few males with impressive antlers, some boar, a number of water birds, but no lynx, no eagles, not even any flamingoes. We did see one peregrine falcon that the guide said was very rare, but this was not very awe inspiring. It should be said that the guide was very good (according to my wife who speaks Spanish, I don't) and enthusiastic. The scenery was splendid but the wildlife was lacking. The cost of this trip is fairly high, 35 Euros per person. Given that you can easily pay this much for other much more disappointing activities (some Concerts, plays and amusement parks come to mind), I think it should be judged by whether you like this sort of activity and what are your expectations. I must admit that seeing a natural park in Europe that allows no private vehicles and regulates human activities so as to protect the flora and fauna, it seemed to me a very positive thing and should be encouraged. If you are interested solely on the entertainment value of this trip, it is 3 stars instead of 4. Warning, book in advance by phone or internet or you may get the bad surprise of the tours being fully booked days in advance. It is also important to remember that you need to collect your tickets at the Fabrica de Hielo which is now a museum/visitor centre for the park (although very little info allows one to know this).

Lovely square, extremely pretty and justifiably popular. We stopped in for breakfast but found almost everywhere a bit crowded come lunch time! That's due to its popularity!

This was an amazing experience which made the trip to Sanlucar de la Berrameda worthwhile over & above the bodegas. The restoration work has been amazing thanks to financial help from the European community. It is rich in history & part of the Christopher Columbus' third voyage & the 500 centenary of Magellan trip. Queen Isabella, the famous Catholic Queen, saw the sea for the first time in her life from the window on the first floor of the castle. The maps are fascinating & give an insight into the past. The military architecture was very progressive for its time and still impressive with its escape tunnel. The volunteer with the birds of prey was there & this enhanced the visit. The sheer size & design is breath taking. Entry fee? Look at the UK English heritage costs or National Trust! Wages have to be paid, brochures printed, electricity paid for.... worth every euro! Thank you.

We were lucky, staying just 200 metres away, and seeing a wedding, as well as a procession celebrating a saint. The church is atmospheric, and each chapel impressive. The bells ring out regularly, and the tower can be seen from all parts of Sanlucar. If you are anywhere near, visit it.

We tagged onto a Spanish guided tour as there were insufficient numbers for the english tour at 11:00 in the morning. However we did get a personal explanation of the wines and Manzanilla by the guide beforehand which a great plus.
We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and the tasting selection at the end.

It's in the Casco Histórico de Sanlúcar and close to all the action. The Church of Santo Domingo itself is beautiful and the priest so so nice and simple, speaking to us as we were just having a friendly discussion about life. No need to be Catholic to enjoy his ( short) mass. The street on one side is peatonal ( pedestrian) and meets up with th Calle Ancha which leads you to la Plaza del Cabildo where all those wonderful tabernas offer the best tapas. If you continue straight, the Calle Ancha becomes Calle San Juan ( I think that what it's called!) and if you keep going, you,ll get to another small plaza with a monument. If you go left after that plaza you will be at El Bodegón de Lola where you can have delicious Pinchos Morunos ( small meat brochettes) and great Ensaladila de Gambas. Waiters are super nice, careful though, it gets really really packed on week end nights. A few meters from there is a lovely local Flamenco tablao that you will love! 15E with one drink included. Ask for the price of the bottle of wine before you order it. It was 3 times the price!
On the other side of the church, Calle Santo Domingo is where the locals shop, lots of fresh fruit and vegetable shops.
It's about 10 mns from the beach, and what a beach!

We visited the palace yesterday and were disappointed in the poor condition of the Gardens. The building is beautiful, although somewhat in disrepair, but we weren't allowed inside to see the beautiful Moorish architecture (just allowed inside the front door in a small vestibule). This has great potential for visitors, but not until it's in better condition.

We loved it here, the kind of place that makes you want to stay for weeks. Beautiful seafront (river front?) Promenade with white sand and turquoise water, backed by restaurants galore. These were rather busy at lunch time and we found it tricky to find somewhere to just grab some wine, but once we did we were in heaven. Boat trips to the other side (Donana national park) and also guided tours of the park.
