Booked a table for one & wasn't made to feel uncomfortable at all.
Food was lovely - had the belly pork with black pudding which was cooked lovely. No room for pudding despite the menu looking very attractive.
Price was reasonable & food quality was very good. Nice atmosphere & friendly welcoming staff.

Met a friend for Christmas lunch and when the booking was made we were told that the only available time was 12pm even though we wanted a later time; we accepted this as this venue is such a beautiful place. When we arrived and said we had booked a table for 12pm we were advised that that was not possible as the restaurant did not open until 1230!! We agreed we would have a drink in the bar until it was possible to go to our table but we were puzzled as to why we had been offered a table at midday. When we went through to the restaurant it was absolutely freezing and when we checked the radiator it was off so we asked for it to be turned on and were advised it was broken!! This was mid December and a very cold day so we had to eat with our coats on which was not what we intended at all. The starters we good but the Turkey Christmas meal was disappointing - the meat from the leg was rolled and filled with stuffing but the actual Turkey was hard and tough. We declined the pudding list. We were very disappointed as in the past the food has been excellent

First visit to this place after passing many times. Two of us stopped for tea and breakfast. Well presented cafe, service was prompt and the breakfast tasty...nice big mushroom, tasty bacon and sausage was especially good. My very favourite part of the visit was discovering that the floor was warm/heated which was bliss on my frozen toes....only the other day I'd been filling out a survey by a fast food place and they asked me how they could do more...know I know it's a heated floor

Returning to the Asia Tandoori restaurant for a second visit, time for a quick review. I have to admit from the quality of the food, presentation, service and Cobra on draught made for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. It was “Banquet Night” and dishes of chicken tikka bhuna, Cuisine Special, lamb tandoori, onion bhaji’s, saag aloo, cauliflower bhaji, rice and naan bread were chosen. All were faultless, with good attention to detail in presentation, aroma and taste. Service was EXCELLENT which made a lovely dining experience. WELL DONE ASIA !

Nice canal side pub, nice menu with some interesting options. We had starters and mains....didn’t need the starters. Beef carpaccio was nice but the dressing made it overly salty.
Ham egg and chips/fish and chips were huge. Can not say what the puddings are like as was far too full.
Nice beer and wine selection. Friendly service if not a little slow.

Just popped in from the canal. Quite a walk but well worth it for this delightful, country pub. Very traditional and very welcoming. Our dog too! A good range of beers, inc. this year's champion, Goats Milk from the Church End Brewery. Heaven for us. We only stayed for a pint and a snack but they were advertising some interesting snack: scotch egg. Pork pie, and a salmon and watercress tart. We had one each of the latter which were served on a board (really don't like this see my past reviews and John Finnemores song "Put it on a plate " on YouTube) but well served with a green salad and chopped gherkin with condiments. Just the ticket. Must go back for a full meal.

The Windmill Inn

Reviewed By johng4rcg - Wakefield

Went here tonight for the first time for our friends birthday we had traveled over 120 miles from Yorkshire to celebrate our friends birthday, she had been once before and said it was nice and seeing that it was only 15 mins from where she lives it sounded ideal.
The initial impression was very nice, got a very warm welcome from the staff, we got drinks and sat by the open fire and chose our meals from the menu, then we were told we were being seated in the small area away from the main dining area next to the the bar where, there was just one table there and we also found all the locals there drinking and talking rather loud (probably because of the amount they were drinking) there, so to say it was a bit cramped is an understatement, and to make things worse it was absolutely freezing, there was an open fire next to the table which was not lit, instead there was the smallest of oil filled radiator which was making not a bit of difference to the cold drafts that were going around our table. We asked to be moved but all they could offer was a table for 2 near the entrance which would not have been much good seeing there were 3 people in our party.
We had already ordered our meals while in the main dining area, otherwise we would have just left.
While waiting for our starter even more casual drinkers came into this small area, so many that they were blocking out the light to the table, even the waitresses struggled to pass them, not only were they noisy, but the were also Vaping which when you are trying to have a meal is just not on, we did complain to the waitress who sent in the manageress who asked them not to use their electronic cigarettes inside the pub.
This whole episode spoilt our friends birthday meal, the food was ok, if not a bit on the expensive side, but how can you enjoy a nice meal with half drunk men watching you having a meal, laughing and shouting to make themselves heard.
We did complain to the lady who came to take payment, who didn’t seem the least bit interested with what we told her.
Will we be going back? no way, will we recommend it, no way, Next time we come to see our friend we will find somewhere that appreciate our patronage.
