This was a bit of a hike from our AirBnB, but it was completely worth it. The guides were great and the gear / process seemed pretty good.
There also seemed to be an option to avoid any jump which may have been to scary for some.

This excursion is very fun and offers nice views or Puerto Plata and the ocean. Once your near the top it may become foggy depending on the day. It is very humid on top. The walking trails are nice and you can see a few birds and insects while walking around. There are a few locals trying to sell stuff on top of the mountain so if you don't want anything just say no thank you and keep walking. Overall this excursion is very nice and I recommend anyone to do it!!

Mount Isabel de Torres

This mountain, which looms high above Puerto Plata, has a cable car ride to the top.

Included in our 1/2 day city tour with Hola Tours & Travel was a trip via cable car to the top of Mount Isabele de Torres. Although not possible for some (cruise ship passengers etc.) if you are on a longer stay, try to pick your day to visit as the top of the mountain can have its own weather conditions, with nicknames of Fog or Mist Mountain. If you can see from ground level that the top of the mountain is clear, you have picked a good time. We started out in Sunshine, with the top shrouded in mist, but at the top, clouds, fog & rain came in, with high winds which shortened our visit. The views of Puerto Plata, the Atlantic & the surrounding countryside were spectacular and we wished the weather had cooperated to fully explore the trails & botanical garden.

Loved this park! The shows are very similar to the Miami Seaquarium, however, in a more appealing presentation. If you buy the day pass it includes snorkeling in the reef aquarium. It was not as large as expected but still a very unique experience to swim in an aquarium. For added money, one can swim in a pool of nurse sharks! There are dolphins in several areas and remain there after the shows. You can walk to the enclosure pools where they are and many will come close and interact with you. The park has a dolphin, seal, shark and bird show. They also have a fake beach and a pool which is fun for children and families. There are restaurants and a bar. Everyone who worked in the park was friendly and everyone we asked questions of were able to answer our questions even if it wasn't in their area. Impressive! A fun place for the family and to spend the day. You can also swim or interact with the dolphins for an added fee. You can also rent a locker which was very convenient.

This was another trip that was worth every dollar spent. a great and very informative, comfotable bus ride through the Dominican interior with a guide that was full of knowledge and history to an area that took us to Paradise Island. This spot is nothing more than a sand bar, but exquisite, with awesome snorkeling. I have photos of myself literally surrounded by gorgeous, colorful fish...spectacular!

A great place to relax and people watch or go for a walk/run along the waterfront. There is some nice wooden loungers. Soak up some history at The fortress and the a statue of Gen. Gregorio Luperon. There is also a spot for live music/concerts or other entertainment. The only thing is there is a lot of vendors and tour buses and can be very busy!

This park is a nice area to people watch. The Cathedral is on the opposite side and there are a few restaurant /shops to visit.
After dark locals came out to socialize and it was nice to see the camaraderie-similar to what we saw in Italy.
