Petticoat Lane

My great great grandfather William Wilson made his home in Petticoat Lane and I just love to visit and stay next door in Davidson Cottage. The fruit trees and vines he planted still grow and I always feel so at home! It's a place full of history, loads of things to do and beautiful wines to take home.

Mary MacKillop Interpretive Centre

Reviewed By John H - Gold Coast, Australia

We were driving through the area and decided to stop at St.Joseph's Church for a quick look at where it all began for Mary MacKillop. We were unaware that there was an Interpretative Centre and were throughly impressed spending 90 minutes viewing the church, the school house and the section on Mary MacKillop's life and the process leading to her beatification.
Thee was also a separate section on Reverend Julian Thomas Woods the co-founder of the Sisters of St. Josephs but unfortunately we didn't have time to view this area.
It's a must see if you are in the area.

We visited eight wineries and all were very, very good. Consistency seems to be the case in this region. But if really pushed, we thought that Katnook's wines, together with the warm welcome and generous tasting, just about shaded it.Dear Peter, we are thrilled with this review. Not only did you have a great experience at Katnook but you enjoyed so many wineries in our beautiful region. We hope your kind words encourage others to venture to Coonawarra soon. Thanks again.

The beautiful old building that Wynns is located in, certainly gives off an excellent first impression - as does the service from the wonderful women working in the cellar door! Rebecca (sp) looked after us today, and she did so in the absolute best manner, providing us with so much information and the most friendly service. The wines were exceptional and we ended up with a great bottle of Cab Sav! Must visit!

Raidis Estate

We reckon most things in life are better when they’re shared. At our place, that’s done over the table - loaded with backyard produce, a bottle or two of good wine and surrounded by family and friends. It might be our Greek heritage that inspired us to work the land. Since leaving more than 60 years ago Chris, with his wife Fran, has worked the Terra Rossa soils of Coonawarra, growing tomatoes, lettuces and strawberries before Steven joined his parents in the family business, together planting vines in 1990. When Steven's wife Emma came along, the dream was realised opening the cellar door in November 2009. Our two sites feature both the young and the old; regional classics Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot along with Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. Through the winter months, the vines share our land with a small trip of goats who maintain the rows, doing their bit to contribute to our micro-climate. 2 lemon trees, 20 apple trees, 300 strawberry plants, 200 bushes of oregano and whatever else Chris has decided to grow on any given day, share the space with our cellar door. Come visit us and you might chance upon Chris offering up the backyard’s latest bounty or you’ll find us, Steven and Emma Raidis, at the table, glass in hand, ready to share a story or two.

I'm still so confused .
Friendly service, actually a bit too friendly. I appreciate all the effort put into it and you can see the passion in Graham's work but something didn't seem quite right. We just wanted the opportunity to walk around but there were "rules" and "games" and certain order we could do things. My children literally were are little freaked out. Each to their own

The wine tasting was brilliant and the staff were beyond helpful. An amazing selection of wines with a few uncommon varieties thrown in. Highly recommend joining their Vintage Club.
Whilst we loved our visit to the Cellar Door we were disappointed the restaurant was not able to seat us at our designated time for lunch and despite waiting longer we had to leave.
