The House Museum of E.I. Pugacheva in Uralsk is a small museum showcasing things from Pugachev’s life and his role in the Cossack rebellion and the history afterwards. Not a great museum by any standards but I suppose as Pugacheva lived and died many years ago there maybe isn’t a lot left aside from his story so this certainly is a good representation.

We checked out the Regional History State Museum in Uralsk last week while in the city, it is a showcase of the regional history (Captain Obvious) but seemingly empty of people except some very helpful staff. There was a school group that came through about half way during our time in there but aside from them and a few stragglers here and there we essentially had it to ourselves. Certainly not complaining about that at all as we were able to take our time walking through the exhibits and Reading all we could to learn more about the history from early days, through the revolution, world wars and through to today. Our understanding of Kazakh is still a bit rough but we managed to understand a fair amount more than we thought. Great set up, nice museum, friendly/patient staff and we would highly recommend that you visit if you get the chance.

This was my first time visiting an Orthodox church, and I found this to be an absolutely fascinating one to see.
The back wall was an impressive display of art and, when there, don't forget to look up at the ceilings.
Before taking any photos, be sure to ask permission to do so.

Так называемая Новая мечеть, была построена в 2005 году и считается самой новой из трех действующих мечетей. Мечеть вмещает 1500 человек. Красивая, большая современная мечеть. Ночью хорошо подсвечивается.

The Museum Old Oral in Uralsk is a beautiful folksy little museum with lots of artifacts from the region, most of it in Kazakh or Russian or no labels so we just wandered around admiring the old stuff. Really a beautiful setting, will probably take you under an hour to see it all but worthwhile.

Another small but good museum in Uralsk that we visited recently was the Nature and Ecology Museum. Only three rooms but some cool flora and fauna and former flora and fauna from the area including dinosaurs, mammoths and butterflies which are beautiful. No English labels so we got as much as we could while we were there, tag-teaming with our language skills but worth a look even if you can’t read the labels.

Красная мечеть расположена в татарской слободе Уральска. Построена в 1871 году. Является памятником архитектуры местного значения. Здание двухэтажное с невысоким минаретом, стены сложены из красного кирпича, потому она и называется Красной. В советское время мечеть была закрыта. В 1980 году здание мечети было признано памятником архитектуры. В 2005–2006 годах мечеть была восстановлена и торжественно открыта 28 августа 2006 года.

До революции монастырь находился по другую сторону реки Чаган, от тех времен сохранилось только название небольшого населённого пункта из десятка домов -Обитель.
Новое здание монастыря было построено на другом месте, среди дач, возле Дома инвалидов. Красивое деревянное здание храма имеет два престола: в честь Покрова Пресвятой Богородицы и Св. Праведной Матроны Московской.

Судьба вяжет узлы не хуже моряков. Мимо помещения, где ныне находится музей несколько лет ходил мимо на работу. Небольшой домик посреди многоэтажек, неизвестно каким чудесным образом сохранился. На выставках Гумарова в Уральске бывал. И вот картины и личные вещи обрели постоянный покой в этом маленьком домике. Моим друзьям, впервые побывавшим в Уральске, музей понравился.
