The interior of this Shrine, (as well as Imam Ali's Shrine in Najaf ) are superlative! They both attest to Persians' refined skills in decorating with mirror mosaics and chandeliers.Iraqis, unlike Iranians, allow non-Muslims to enter and take pictures.

This is holly place for Yazidi people. The best solution to come here is to get taxi from Dohuk, Erbil or Mosul. I already pay 35000 dinars from Dohuk and I spent there 3 hours. Anyone who want to visit this holly lace I recommend to get one more pair socks because there is forbidden to enter with shoes. In winter time get warmer socks because there is very cold.

Recently I visited the museum with a friend from overseas. I never thought I would be such overwhelmed. It bears within its walls recent history of south Kurdistan which I have witnessed and lived. But been here was a different matter, a large doze of mixed emotions of patriotism, sorrow, rage and disappointment hit me in a way that I couldn’t come out of it for couple of days. Nonetheless I left in tears for all those young men and women martyrs of ISIS war whose portraits were decorating the walls of the museum. Visit this place, it is a must. You can’t live in this city or visit it without going to the Amna suraka musem.

Amazing drive, and great views. Noah’s Ark was a quirky little little shop near the entrance of the cable cars, it had great chai and friendly hosts. The views were incredible- clean toilets, plenty of food and even Nutella coffee! ☕️❄️????

Located in a strict centre, it is absolutely a must! Government is doing a great job in maintaining original buildings and repairing them, so more and more parts of Citadel are opened to visitors. Opening hours: 9:00 - 17:30
