Myrtos Beach

A beach so spectacularly blue you have to pinch yourself hour after hour to check you are not dreaming. The water is immensely clear and the blueness goes on forever. It is a cove surrounded by luscious green mountains - with mountain goats for added Greek authenticity and the white sand is like silk upon the soles of Your feet. The waves are strong and the current powerful which makes it difficult to get out for a swim but it is immensely fun playing around in the waves on the vast shoreline. There are umbrellas and sun beds for a small fee of 3.50 each and a little beach bar with showers and toilets. I would recommend getting here before midday as the car park got quite busy. On the way down to the beach you must stop off at the viewpoint and film the panoramic views of the mountains meeting the ocean - I have never seen a view like it. Only A couple of warnings would be there are paragliders which land on the beach so be careful to stay out of there way and be careful with children playing in the sea without an adult. As I said the waves are powerful and will. Drag you under if you are not careful. I cannot recommend a beach to go to more highly than this for a perfect peaceful and fulfilling day on your travels.

This beach is well suited to families in the central area with the usual sunbeds, brollies and showers. The north and south beaches are textile optional and both are sheltered by high cliffs. Access to the south and north beaches is sometime limited by high water levels and wading may be needed in places.

Picture perfect beach in Lefkada. High cliffs and clear blue water makes a perfect getaway. Make sure you come early in high season as parking lots aren’t very spacious. Windy road to get there but not too difficult to reach it.

Paleokastritsa Monastery

Reviewed By srablair - Lytham St Anne's, United Kingdom

Currently free parking at the Aquarium just at the bottom of the hill with a variety of tavernas and cafes. Beautiful cove for swimming, or just enjoying the view and taking photographs. It's a 20 minute walk up to the monastery from here, and although it is possible to drive up further, it's a very narrow road controlled by traffic lights, so unless you have mobility problems I would suggest taking on the walk and enjoy the view as you go! The monastery is lovely, we sat for a few minutes of quiet reflection and took the opportunity to light a candle, (donation invited). There is also a small museum which was fascinating, great collection if liturgical vestments, religious artworks and prayer books, some from the 15th century. Amazing collection with I imagine lots of stories to tell. Well worth a visit. There is also a lovely gift shop selling honey, and religious memorabilia as well as Corfu guide books in English and most other common languages.

Porto Limnionas Beach

Reviewed By Musicus - Merton, United Kingdom

Fabulous cove, excellent for swimming and snorkelling. Also scuba available here if you are Padi certificated. Whole place well laid out, terraces of beach beds leading down to steep steps in the rock to the swimming area. Restaurant serves excellent food with stunning views. Get there early as beds fill up fast, after 11 am you may well have a long wait. Cove is good for strong swimmers as water is quite deep. Many people use inflatable rings and lilo type beds in the sea. Snorkelling good and beautiful small fish to be observed. Well worth the drive down the rather precarious road!!

Vlacherna Monastery

As an orthodox myself really wanted to visit this small church as it seemed is a popular place in Corfu and it didn’t disappoint me at all. Very easy to reach , you can take a bus from Corfu town ( line no 6 ) , we were lucky as it was only 10 min away from the resort we stayed and it’s also very close to the airport as you can see all the planes landing or departing . It’s situated on a small island and painted all in white , it has a small gift shod inside and also the church it’s open for tourists that want to pray or light a candle . Really enjoyed the time spent there !
