4. Paul-Gerhardt-Kapelle
Die Paul-Gerhardt-Kapelle ist ein klassizistisches Bauwerk aus den Jahren 1830 - 1844 und wurde zu Ehren des bedeutenden evangelischen Kirchenliederdichters Paul Gerhardt (1607 - 1676) in seiner Geburtsstadt Gräfenhainichen errichtet. Diese Gedächtnisstätte beherbergt heute eine umfangreichen Dauerausstellung über Leben und Wirken Paul Gerhardts.

The upper city tower on the boulevard dates from 1448. Here was once a city gate - the upper city gate of Grafenhainichens, which was closed in the evening. The guards had their quarters in the tower. The square tower also served temporarily as a city prison.

The Saxon distance column from 1728 was erected at the instigation of the elector Augustus the Strong. In 1898 - when the old school was demolished opposite the city church - a pyramid-shaped sandstone was found, which turned out to be the centerpiece of a Saxon spacer column. After its restoration, the post column was set up in 1972 at its current location.
