Friedrichshafen (German pronunciation: [fʁiːdʁiksˈhafn̩]) is an industrial city on the northern shoreline of Lake Constance (the Bodensee) in Southern Germany, near both the borders of Switzerland and Austria. It is the district capital (Kreisstadt) of the Bodensee district in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. Friedrichshafen has a population of c. 58,000.

........well that's what it looks like to me. It's only a short walk down the harbour mole/breakwater and is quite easy to climb. From the top you don't actually see much in the way of "far reaching" views like you would for instance at the top of Pfander at Breganz but you can see out onto the lake for a distance and admire the locks fastened to the surrounding fence. There's a Seating area around the base and it's a good vantage point to see Ferries and lake craft entering/leaving harbour. Something to do whilst visiting the town but not an attraction in its own right.

The Dornier museum actually spreads its wings in two directions. A historic review of the development of aviation in the early 20-ties together with the lines of a historic start-up Enterprise based on the experience of Claude Dornier and his crew around flying boats such a the Wal. It shows personalities and technological development together with international contacts. Also the exhibition of aircraft is done well - especially when you know about Dorniers history in the field. This branch may benefit from some more technical and flight-physical descriptions.
Unfortunately the years of WW II are somewhat limited. Here the historical correctness together with technical achievements and "shortcuts" should be addressed a little bit more to the better understanding of the Dornier history in the terrible Nazi-years in between 33 and 45. Here the museum easily could pick up a chance the Deutsche Museum in Munich always shys away from since decades.

The history of Zeppelin aircraft and their achievements as well as failures are explained alongside the vision of Count Zeppelin. Reconstructed passenger facilities show air travel in a very different light and the effect of the airship's manufacture on the local town was interesting. The role Germany's WW1 reparations to America played in its development of the airship was surprising.
Count Zeppelin bequeathed his wealth to the Zeppelin project and if that no longer existed to the local community. Almost t00 years later the community is still being provided for.

Every year this small lake side city hosts the world's largest bicycle show and Messe become the cyclists Mecca. The only problem is that this area does not have the roads, the hotels or the infrastructure to cope with all these visitors. Messe is a great venue for a smaller show but during Eurobike it is just too busy!

The harbour area of the Promenade has numerous cafes and tat shops plus the ubiquitous "silent statues" to relieve you of any pocket change. There's also the "scaffold tower" at the end of the breakwater. However, once you walk a short distance away from the main tourist area it's more tranquil and just nice to take in the lake/mountain views and see people enjoying themselves, especially in the evening.

The catamaran combines hourly Friedrichshafen and Konstanz, travel time about 50 minutes. Target, the respective port of the two cities. An advantage is that you can reach the center in a few minutes. Pleasant and relaxed cruise. Recommended definitely. 88046 Friedrichshafen, port building

Well worth the walk - along the Promenade - direction Meersburg. You can see the twin spires from a distance. Although rather plain from the outside, just step inside and you will be stunned! Rich ornate ceilings, a fantastic view to behold. Not overly big but beatifully decorated. Situated next door is a wine store, I suggest a visit inside that too!

This is a nice Little Relaxing and interesting spot during the summer evenings. There are quite a few statues spurting out water which make up for some interesting photography. Also this place is known for the open flea markets usually during the Weekends(friday or saturday) with competitive prices. Overall a nice place for your evening stroll.

A fascinating look back into education from a teacher's and a strudent's perspective. A journey in time through various periods of education. Had there been more in other languages, English, French or Spanish perhaps those who are not strong with their German could have learned far more of the whole presentation.
It is a worthy stop if in the area but as it's just in German this may not be your cup of tea should your German not be fairly strong.
