This place is awesome for a rock lover. They have everything from all the various types of rocks and gemstones to the tools and polishers to make them into masterpieces. They have jewelry and stones and polished rocks to purchase as well as a pretty large museum and a knowledgeable staff member to answer any questions you might have or to find something specific you are looking for. Stop in you won't be sorry you did. Plus it's a nice place to stretch your legs and learn something in the process.

Loleta Cheese Factory

Reviewed By Melanie141974 - Sheffield, United Kingdom

Was brought here by an American friend who LOVES 'grilled cheese sandwiches'. If you are an American and love American cheese, I would imagine that this would be Heaven for you. As an English person who has been spoiled with English and French cheese all of her life, I was not impressed. I find American cheese bland and the grilled cheese sandwich I had was absolutely tasteless. The coffee was luke warm, too. Service average. It was nice to sit outside in the sun, though, as there is a very nice garden there.

Normally I wouldn't recommend a visit to a cemetery but this one is quite unique! You can actually drive to the top of the hill that the cemetery runs up. Up there you get a great view of the town. Interesting place!

Clendenen's Cider Works

I've purchased apples and apple cider in many states throughout the Mid-west and Western states, but I have never been able to beat Clendenen's family process for the sweetest and best apples and cider. It looks small, but the old school methods and generations of expertise run deep. There are pastries and other offerings, but I never stop without getting a container or two of cider. I am drooling for it right now.

We are heading to Alaska from San Francisco on 101 north in our RV. Winds were kicking up so we decide to get off the highway for a couple of hours and saw the signs. Easy to find just off 101. Went to the desk and asked if overnight parking was okay. We were welcomed to stay three nights and more if necessary!!! Filled out the paper work, enjoyed a great meal in the dining room, played some slots. We had a very nice quiet evening. Weather was still windy the next day so we are staying over. Everyone is so friendly, and so wanting to make your stay enjoyable!!
It is in the giant redwood forest complete with Bigfoot sightings!! Lots of history!!

Founders Grove

Reviewed By Cameron M - Martinez, California, United States

We've visited Founders Grove before and it's always been a high pay-off for low effort. Now it's even better because there's a SPECTACULAR new attraction. In spring of 2016 a BIG tree fell across the already-downed Dyersville Giant (which fell in 1991). The trunk of the newly fallen tree EXPLODED across the Giant into a spectacular game of Pick-up-Sticks. The scale of the wreckage is just amazing.
The Founder Grove is popular because it's so easy to access and is an easy stroll, but somehow it never feels too overrun. Right off 101, easy parking, potties, flat wide paths, and good pamphlet all combine together to make this a real nice stop. We also visited the Rockefeller Grove off the same exit a couple of miles down a really crappy narrow road. Founders Grove beats it hands down. Rockefeller is nice, but Founders is just top notch, and we've hiked a lot of redwood groves.

Finally our bloodhound turned 4 months old and completed his patch etc. Shot series. We have been waiting to take him here, and it was wonderful!!! They have a separate area for small dogs, plenty of water and even balls and racquets to play ball with your pal. All the dog owners here and responsible and aware of their pet, no problems, fights or any nonsense. Very fun to watch our pup play, learn and get socialized. Good time had by all!!

Check out the photos of the worlds largest birthday cake (yes, Ferndale) see the working seismograph that records earthquakes as far away as Chile, and yes, all of the little and sometimes devastating earthquakes in the region, try your skill at identifying the kitchen implements in the display (numbered for reference) and visit the tool shed where you can see the cool array of blacksmithing tools and local brands.

We live minutes from Humboldt bay, it's beautiful natural setting is one of California's
Best places! It's 14 miles long and its 41/2 miles wide at its widest part. It's also the second largest bay on the west coast!
Originally used to bring tens of thousands to the Trinity Gold country, then for logging for many decades. Its also the largest Oyster production on the west coast. About half of all California's Oysters are farmed here! It's a bird watchers paradise along with fishing, crabbing, sailing, and much more! As you travel Highway 101 through our area note the true size and beauty of HUMBOLDT BAY!
