My wife, Brenda, and I typically vacation 'off-season' so it is usually iffy if we are going to find any tourist information centres open. In fact, when we pulled in front of this one, it was just at 4:00 PM and the interior looked dark, the open sign was off, it looked closed but as I reached for the door, I was greeted by the young woman who was working there. I asked for some info on The Kootenays and she was more than helpful. She directly me to the section of the display where I could help myself to what I needed. She was also quite apologetic about the late salmon run, in case we were in town for that (we weren't). I never got her name, but she really filled our collection of maps and guides that we needed at the time. Thanks!
