Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic

Sri Dalada Maligawa (Sinhala: ශ්‍රී දළදා මාළිගාව) or The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex which houses the Relic of the tooth of Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. Kandy was the last capital of the Sinhalese kings and is a UNESCO world heritage site partly due to the temple. The temple which houses the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha is one of the holiest shrines in the entire Buddhist world.

The temple is beautifully decorated. The floral offering tables are full to bursting with blooms. Take time to notice the roof and wall paintings. You are allowed to take photographs inside the temple. The air is filled with incense and the scent of the flowers.

Pidurangala Rock

Pidurangala is a massive rock formation located a few kilometers north of Sigiriya in Sri Lanka. It has an interesting history closely related to that of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Climbing to the top of Pidurangala Rock is more strenuous than climbing Sigiriya. If you are fit and adventurous it is a climb worth making. It will take you about two hours. There is far less to see on this site than Sigiriya

Yes. Start by Lion Rock; you get pissed at the amount of tourists and the lines getting bigger and lengthier by the minute for the Lion Rock. When you’ll arrive at Pidurangala, you will feel free and quite peaceful to say the least. We did nothin back to back and they are quite near from one another.
Try to avoid mid day since the heat is quite intense (although there’s plenty of shadow).
We did the climb in less than an hour and it doesn’t require climbing experience.

Lipton’s Seat

The Scottish tea baron Sir Thomas Lipton used to survey his burgeoning empire from here. Lipton’s seat is a panoramic overlooking destination in Sri lanka. You can arrive by bus to Dambatenne factory or take a tuk-tuk to the top at Lipton's seat. We recommend taking the short cuts to be immersed in the nature and say hello to the tea pickers.
We also went through the Tamil villages and saw the lovely kids coming back from school.
We don't recommend to visit Dambatenne factory though. 250 Rs and not even a tasting experience.

Udawalawe National Park

This park is home to several hundred elephants and other rare plants and wildlife.

Reviewed By ivet421 - Olomouc, Czech Republic

Beautiful experience, we saw many kinds of animals, different species of birds, crocodiles, foxes, deer, lizards, buffalos...We saw a couple of elephants, hiding in a bush at the beginning of the tour. After 5 hours or so we should have been on our way back, but our driver took extra effort looking for more elephants as he finally found a family of 5 members with a baby elephant! He was very patient and spent there another 30 mins with us to make sure we enjoyed the tour fully. The elephants got so close we could have nearly touched them! At one point, one of them got too but our brave driver chased him away. We went without a guide and it was ok but I think that the success of the tour really depends on luck and on your driver.

Stopped at Euphoria for lunch and a tour. Shal, the owner, and his wife are really sweet. They really just want you to have a good time. Our group was given a cooking lesson followed by a fantastic meal. We've been touring Sri Lanka for a week now, and the lunch at Euphoria was the best meal we have had. Most of the offereings were vegetarian, which made it even better. Shal will even offered to send us a few recipes. After lunch, we went for a tour of the spice garden. I would highly recommend a visit to Euphoria. Thank you, Shal.

We didn't make it to the upper falls, but our driver took us through the hotel and to the lower falls, which were quite spectacular. Very high with lots of water, you get up close and personal to these falls. Just stand there and feel the wind and mist hit you in the face on a hot day. Quite lovely!

Adam's Peak

This 7,300 foot tall mountain in the jungle of Sri Lanka is sacred to several different religions.

Concrete steps to the top. Dirty and strewn with rubbish.
This is spiritual pilgrimage, not a travellers trek.
There are locals of all ages, some really struggling with the steps and I can’t see how rude tourists barging past them in an effort to get to the top as quickly as possible adds to their experience.
The view from the top is good but it’s very crowded.
