We did the flatirons 1&2 hike . Was more strenuous than I expected but well worth it. Took about 3 1/2 hours total. View is amazing from the top. Definitely bring good hiking shoes!

We hiked around the loop that had minimal elevation gain and enjoyed the views and ease of walking. With more time would enjoy heading more directly up the mountain. This time of year the grass, deciduous trees aren’t as pretty. Looking forward to returning in the spring.

Our group of about 15-20 visitors had an energetic tour guide who had a very good understanding himself of the brewing process and its technical aspects. He communicated well to a wide range of tourists and home brewers alike, some of whom had to learn the diffrence between lagers and ales, and others who asked questions about bittering hops and secondary fermentation. He also answered honestly questions about the trend of some small CO brewers being let taken over by the big boys. We also learned about the advantages of cans and as a balance, Avery's commitment to using foil toppers to discourage slugging down a beer from a bottle, fraternity style, in favor of slowly drinking from beautiful stemware and luxuriating in the gustatory thrill.
The tour concluded with the tasting of one of the barrel aged group of small batch beers. We tasted an imperial coconut porter aged in Bourbon barrels.
We retreated afterwards to the tap room downstairs and joined new aquaintances from the tour group at a shared table. There is also a restaurant on the second floor with daily specials and a printed menu.

I loved the canyon area and scenery, but it is rustic with a capitol R. Driving in and out feels more like trespassing on private land, with no guarantee you'll be able to pass or get back out. Not for delicate, low riding vehicles, you will bounce a bit. And you will want to drive in as far as you feel comfortable, it is a long way in so if you park at the front it's quite a hike, literally. Go for the scenery and expect no accommodations.

The university sits at the base of the Flatiron mountains (which are a must see). I was very impressed by the university after coming here for my niece’s graduation. The buildings with the terra cotta rooftops was gorgeous. Even the gym area and the location of the swimming pool was incredible.

Yes, we used to go “parking” after school with our girls back in our high school days at the top of Flagstaff Mountain. It’s still a beautiful place to visit whether it’s your first time or five decades latter. The road is narrow and winding so watch your speed. A definite spot to visit when you get to Boulder.

Whilst staying in Boulder I took a walk along the Creek Path on my way from my Hotel (Basecamp) to downtown for breakfast. Being November it was a cold but sunny morning and the walk along the Creek Path was very pleasant. Recommend it for a bit of gentle exercise getting close to nature. The path is well maintained and on the level so no special walking attire is needed... Just go and enjoy.

At the heart of Downtown Boulder is the Pearl Street Mall, a wonderfully charismatic four-block-long pedestrian mall that celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2007. Colorful, bright flowers fill the mall almost the entire year and street performers, with a multitude of talents, make the Pearl Street Mall one of the best people-watching destinations anywhere.

Great organic produce, meats, and flowers in addition to honey, salsas, jams and sauces. We got lunch from the paella and empanada stands and enjoyed a picnic in the nearby park. Very family friendly but it's a pet-free market, though, so come without your dog.
