November 8, 2021 Janean Rudisill

Fareham (/ˈfɛərəm/ FAIR-əm) is a market town at the north-west tip of Portsmouth Harbour, between the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton in the south east of Hampshire, England. It gives its name to the borough that comprises the town and its surrounding area. It was historically an important manufacturer of bricks (notably used to build the Royal Albert Hall, London) and a grower of strawberries. Current employment includes retail (including Fareham Shopping Centre with around 100 shops), small-scale manufacturing, and defence (with the Royal Navy's HMS Collingwood and the Ministry of Defence's Defence Science and Technology Laboratory nearby).

Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve

Reviewed By R5284TKdavec - Portsmouth, United Kingdom

My partner and I went to Titchfield Haven today. We unwittingly turned up without booking, which we didn't realise we had to do due to the current Covid situation. The Visitor Centre very kindly looked for us and as there were a couple of spaces available, said we could come back in a short while and visit the reserve anyway! Spent several hours walking around, visiting the pond, the hides and just generally enjoying a beautiful day. Saw numerous birds, butterflies, creatures and creepy crawlies. Had a fabulous few hours and got some fantastic views around the reserve, also took my camera and managed to get some good shots too. We really should visit more often and I would thoroughly recommend a visit to anyone with any interest in nature; or anyone who just enjoys a walk with lots of peace and quiet and stunning views! Well worth a fiver each admission, the cafes great too.

We visited rock up whilst on holiday from the Isle of Wight The kids 7,9 and 15 all were excited to try the different walls! Staff were absolutely brilliant, extremely friendly and helpful. We booked in advance with no problems online. We did arrive too early as online says 30 minutes beforehand but due to covid they now ask you to come for booked time. Not a problem as there were plenty shops to visit- something for all ages. Free parking too! Although we went over (think it’s 4 hours free!) but only had to pay £2 for the whole day. Adults can also climb but neither of us had booked. Definitely will next time! Would highly recommend ROCK UP

Hill Head Beach

Reviewed By SunnyOracle - Locks Heath, United Kingdom

One of my endurance run route is via HILL HEAD. It is one of the most amazing places to visit. Route I follow is "Locks Heath -> Holly Hill -> Costal Route which takes me to -> Meon Shore -> Titchfield Haven-> Hill Head -> Lee On Solent -> Fareham -> Back to Locks Heath." Beauty of these places can't be explained in words. Hill Head have ample of sitting area with nice wooden clean benches. Area is clean , ample of parking. If you want to dine out and take a look on beach , make sure to visit "The Osborne View". Hill Head have much better photogenic views of surfers and beach. Massive lawns of Hill Head are perfect for picnic with family, flying kites and bar-be-que. In summers I have spend a solo night on Hill Head in my tent and with bar-be-que and it was amazing. If you want to explore more of hidden gem in area near by you can walk towards "Rising Sun" pub by the beach which joins Titchfield Haven to Warsash Shore. On the way you will see amazing hills which are easy to climb and view from top is amazing on sunny days. I will rate it a 3 km walk (one way) from Hill Head. Overall I love whole route of 32.5 Km which I mentioned above. However whole route can be divided into as short or as long you want. Amazing place and a must visit. Few places you can park your car and trust me , you will always find a place even in the busiest summers though you might need to walk a bit.

I took my 10 year old daughter along today to a taster session and wasn’t sure what to expect. We were greeted when we arrived by our instructor, provided with shoes and taken to an area for instruction. The facilities are great and they have geared up for COVID with sanitisers in place and a one way system in operation. It all felt very structured. Our instructor was fantastic with my daughter and she helped boost her confidence and get her climbing and pushing her limits. Lots of positivity and encouragement. Really cannot fault the experience at all, everything explained to us, with passion and enthusiasm. All I heard in the car on the way home was “When are we going back?”, on this climb I did this hold, I loved this route, I did this... etc... Brilliant!
